just looking for a good sized engine for this model, just asking for suggestions on a motor to fly 3d maneuvers with and still have enough punch to pull out of at least a hover. i would prefer a 2 stroke engine, as much lower cost, but any suggestions would be appreciated

Is it an ARF?
How heavy is it?
What wingspan?
Does it have 3D size surfaces?
What size engine does the mfg suggest for 3D?

My flying partner has this plane w/ an OS .61FX on it.The airframe is very light but built very strong.It weighs between 3 and 4 pounds minus engine and radio.It isnt terribly overpowered with the 61.The wing is relatively thick and the control surfaces are pretty big.Personally the only 46 I would consider would be the OS .46AX,other than that,Id put the 61 on it.It balances out without additional weight needed.The box says powerline then it also says Green Models or something close to that.Nice little plane with 2 piece wing and decent landing gear.

I have one with a YS 63 4-stroke, very nice plane. For 2-stroke, 60 is the minimum. An OS 61FX is perfect.

Heck! Throw a 91fx in there. Same size as the 61fx with lots more power... There is a company called Green Models that sells stuff on RCU. Could be the same plane. Does anybody know if it 3D well?

turns out that the airplane is just slightly smaller and lighter than a KYOSHO CAP 232 I've got. I built two of them, and put an OS46AX on both and they've got almost unlimited vertical. I can't see any reason that this slightly smaller, lighter airplane would need anything more than that.

BTW, the looks of the ARF kit parts layout shows a motor box for electric for the airplane. And with all the obvious lightening holes in the airframe, I'd suggest that putting a larger engine on that airframe could beat the thing to death.

Oh yeah, Powerline calls it a 46 Edge 540.

It would readily accept an electric setup and it is built light,but Ive seen it fly with the 61 and its not overkill.A strong 46 would no dou fly it good,but Im not sure on the vertical.It has a pretty thick wing for its size.

I agree for sure, but going larger than a 61 wouldn't be for the weak of heart, or someone that glues his RXs to the fuselage floor.
