Hey gang, just checking out this pattern/maybe 3D ARF on ebay,, did a search but found little info...
i'm wondering if anyone has one in thier paws already,,
i like the covering, and it seems not that bad for a cheapo arf--
haven't seen a thread on this one, so chime in!

I have seen them advertised, but not in stock anywhere. What's up with that?
It does have an attractive color scheme.

a friend at the field was flying the CMP Gile 202.. it seemed like it flew pretty good, but built kinda thin here and there... i'm thinking of going in on the quest..
i can't seem to find it in stock anywhere, so maybe this ebay thing is the way to go....the seller also has a litttle ultimate bipe that looks cool, too...
if i end up getting it, i will post any and all info on this guy when i get back home (working outta town stinks,, cuts down on stick time,, !!)

If it flies anything like the larger Quest, buy it. It's a freestyle plane that flies Pattern and 3D very well.
That's my 68 inch Quest in the photo below. YS 1.10 powered.

i had seen the 90 sized one, too...
[link=http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110036283362]LINK to 90 size Quest on ebay[/link]
i didn't want to get anything that big. but the pictures on there really show how the fuse is shaped, and i think it's sweet..
so based on those pics, and what you had to say about its' flight performance,,
i did GO FOR IT and BOUGHT THE QUEST 50!
Althougth i won't be able to work on it untill Thanksgiving, i plan on taking pictures, and making posts along the journey of this plane,
from opening the box to maiden flight,, i have read a few 'walk thru' type posts on RCU and i really enjoyed them.. so i should do one , too!
anyone wanna show us your quest? please do! or maybe get a kit and we'll built it together,,,,cheers guys! wish me luck!

Hi to all,
I just found and purchased a Quest 50 from Nitroplanes.
This will be my first pattern plane.
We have one club member with a Quest 90 at our field and it is impressive.

HI All,
I completed my maiden flight on my new Quest 50 and found the CG incorrect. At least the way I measured it. The 95mm to 105mm might be correct but not if you measure the distance at the root of the wing. When I measured the CG from the root of the wing I had to add about 8 oz. of nose weight to balance the plane. The first flight required a lot of up elivator to keep the plane in level flight. I removed the the nose weight and rebalanced the plane by measuring the wing length from the root to the tip of the wing, than take the half the distance of the wing and measure the 95mm on both sides of the wing and balanced it at that point. (At the root of the wing the distance is about 5 3/4 inches.)
The second flight was much improved and required just a small amount of trim.
My engine is a Sato Fa 56.
Hope this helps you out
Ken

kloper - i tried out the CG just now, 105 mm and I noticed it cannot be correct. For a swept back LE wing the CG at the root is about 40% to 45%. I am using a SA72 and I guess It should come out just right. My CG is about 130 mm measured at where the wing meets the saddle. I will see how she flies tomorrow morning. Set my rates using the JR 9Xs flight mode, got a very low rate on FM0 so in case she is tail heavy I can still bring her in.

I just completed my Quest50,I'm using a ttpro 46,love them, tower muffler, dubro 1/2" muffler ext.I did not put the servos back on the fuse,I put the servos under the wing.Using the 46,I thaught I would have to add alot of nose waight,(a mortal sin to me)I used 3 Great planes solid push rods,2 on the elevator, joined by the servo,1 for the rudder.I don't like joining the split elevators with the metal joiner, they always get loose.I rotated the engine (appox.55 degrees)so the muffler comes out on the bottom, had to split the cowl lenght wise behind the head to get it on,It's hard to see the split.worked out great.Useing the MAC,and 33% back, for a safe maiden flight. The CG on the plans looked wrong to me also.My CG at the root is 125 mm.I think It Should be Ok.Plane is nice looking but I had alot of wrinkled on the fuse.I found very low heat,I have a top flight iron use#1to1 1/4,the highest.some times a pin and rub it while still hot. Thanks ed

well guys i builted my quest 50 and flew it today, and i was great! my quest has a ys fz63 four stroke with a 12x8 prop all hitec servos (hs425bb) which i only added 1 for the rudder at the tail, the elevator, servo under the main wing with a split push rod for both sides of the elevator.the CG was set for 125mm not what the sheet says. once in the air i just needed 3 clicks right and 2 click up elavator two have it flying smooth . the slow flight was just as good, and the throws were set low for now but roll rate even on low rates was very fast ,i did touch and go to see how she flies for landing and its very stable i even landed using flaprons WOW talk about smooth! the total weight is just under of 5lb and i luv this plane[

I just bought a Quest 50. I am confused by the markings on the firewall. Why two lines? Why are they cut through the firewall? Why are they off center? Don't get it. Help.

the cut lines is to line up your motor just offset from center. the firewall if your looking at it u want to line up the center of the shaft of the motor to the line just right of it and make sure you have 2 degrees down and 2-3degrees to the right that you would give you the best for flying straight! are you using a fourstroke or 2 stroke engine for this plane? if you have any more question rite back.

Ok, I think I understand, I will center the engine on the offsetting lines, which would be up and left (from behind), then point the engine, using washers, down and right. I am using a 2-stroke, OS 55AX.

Hi,
My Quest 50 from CMPro is now almost ready. Sha have a OS-55AX engine, Futuba standard servos 3003,
6V 2300mAh battery and Futaba 617 (2,4 GHz) receiver. The CG will be about 115 - 120 mm which differ
from the manual but I have seen many notes that this should be find.
This plane seems to be a very nice plane. I have only changed the tail wheel to a Sullivan modell.
My Q:
Can sombody advise me on suitable throws on the rudders?
I thinking of
- Rudder 1 inc (25 mm)
- Elevator 1 inc (25 mm)
- aileron 1/2 inc (12 mm)
for low-rate and my first maiden. Maybe the dubble on high-rate.
Will that be okay?

Tail wheel is not standard nor the pliot
I had to drill hole on starbord side to make it possible to mount the muffler.
