I fly a VQ T-6 with retracts. Satruday the left retract mechanism failed on takeoff. I E-mailed Tomas at VQ and received a reply Monday AM. Pretty fast huh? Not only speedy but a replacement part is on it's way at no cost for the part. Shipping and handeling is the only cost to me. I think that is great customer service and just have to comment on it..Cliff

There are more good ones than bad out there. Great to hear a story like your's; too many times a flyer would complain about having to only pay S/H. I've had great service from Tower when spare props or canopy arrived damaged. With a POLITE call, replacements were on the way. I can only imagine some of the rantings a customer service dept. has to put up with.

Drone,
that's good to hear. Most of the time you do not hear anything but bad customer service. I spent a couple of years as a CS manager and the praise we got was like gold. It was hard trying to tell an abviously upset support tech that he/she is doing a good job when all he/she hears is bad things all day long.
As HuskerBoy says and I agree, a polite call will in more cases than not get something worked out to everyones benefit . I've defused more bad CS calls by killing them with kindness than getting upset, but as the CS manager, it was my job to take the tough calls but in most cases the customer was happy and continued with us for a very long time. CS is just a job and you try not to take it personally even when someone is trying their best to make it personal.
It jsut went through this at a hospital jsut 2 weeks ago. My daughter had a problem with a pregnancy and there was one nurse that stayed with her well past her normal hours, checked in on her daily when she was not at work and asked to be assigned to her case when she was in.
I made sure that her supervisor was aware of the extra things she did for my daughter as well as seeing to it she understood that I knew and appreciated what she did as well. She seemed genuinely impressed at my efforts as I was with her efforts and she mentioned in her years of nursing she had never had anyone place praise on her.
I told her how impressed I was and I understand that working with the public can be stressful and you get to see and hear more bad than good and that being what I used to do and do now, I'm not easily impressed. I know I made her day just from the simple acts of kindness I showed
