It's this time of year I envy you Texans...

Like Maudib said, after a few flights, it's all about the flying. Which reminds me, I'm headed to the field with mine shortly.

well mine has been done for two weeks, waiting for weather.came out 15.5 lbs. with a taurus 52 and pitts muffler, balance rite at 6-3/4 from leading edge, with two 2500 AA 5 cell on the engine box and throttle servo. right wing had a little twist, heat gun took care of it,right stab leading edge had to come up 1 degree. but now everything reads 0 degrees, all and all not to bad of build. just wanted to see if anyone else is reading this thread.
ENJOY!

Yep still around... too many irons in the fire to start mine yet... but I did line up a Brillelli 50 to put in one...

15.5 lbs is spot on where I expected a light build to come in at... you sure are gonna love it!

I'm thinking of fenagling a DA85 for the 107"

Just finishing the hinging, just gotta do the rudder. Plenty of work left to do. But no hurry, flying season doesn't start until April at the earliest. ZDZ 50 NG is going in mine.

I think the ball ends they supply are a little stiff, might go with some Dubro. Do these things loosen up?

i am lucky just to get on line let alone try to figure out how to post pictures and i don't have a digital camera. but not much to see,i don't use power boxes or dual rx,just a smartfly kill switch,no wheel pants, all though i could use them as skis now, it's all they are good for as i fly off a grass, now snow runway. i do have a set of skis,if push comes to shuv. i been thinking of the first flight with skis.
ENJOY!

Mine's going real slow. I have a steady girlfriend and that has slowed things quite a bit (I used to hide out in my basement for a week straight...after work that is). Tonight I will be finished with all hinging and control horns will be glued. Next will be the main gear install.

Yessss. The worst part is done (gluing hinges and control horns). I almost couldn't get my rudder to push onto the bottom hinge. These flat hinges are a little tricky to line up. Now it's mostly bolt-on stuff. Cutting the cowling is the last messy part.

yep, the flat hinges are a pain i think the robart pin hinges are a little easier being you just half to drill a hole and less hinge area to worry about getting glue in. sense i had to recut the flat hinges in i just used the robarts. can't wait to fly this plane,i want to see if all the hub-bub about this plane is true.
ENJOY!

My rudder ended up a little higher than it should be. So my rudder horn ended up a little high. The slit in the side of the fuse for the crossed cables will now be in the red covering where ply is and out of the yellow covering where the lightening hole is. I think I might need to cut a lot in the thin ply (red covering) above the lightening hole. Anyone think this might weaken the fuse? Anyone have this issue? I'd rather the cables go through a slot in the covering than cut a slot in the ply weaken it. But the cable height ends up in the ply. Hmmmm.

Joe
my cables ended just below the ply ,like almost touching the ply,i don't think you would weaken the area by cutting a new slot, just only cut what you have to,the snow here is melting very fast i might be able to test fly it before this weak end.
ENJOY!

Joe
just took a look at mine, there is a slot in the ply that is in the red you might be able to run cables through that.

I saw those slots looking into the fuse from the canopy opening. They look perfect but are actually a little too high. I need my slot about 1/8 to 1/4 inch above the top of lightening hole (in the yellow covering). I will have to slot the ply, there's no way around it without having the cables rubbing. If I do it the way the manual says I will have the cables rubbing on the top of the lightening hole. I don't think it's too big of a deal to slot the ply.....how long does that slot need to be anyway? A half inch?

Got any pic's of your finished plane?

Thanks
