2HI: Man that sucks... There sure have been a lot of tornadoes in the midwest this year. I live in Wichita, Ks (south-central ks) so I've felt the threat all season. Luckily, the most we've had so far is some nasty hail, but out west it's been VERY nasty.

Dang.........2HI2C............I hope your work isn't oil related........otherwise that'll be yet another reason for big business to hike the gas prices up another $1 or two! Seems like those bashtards wake up on the wrong side of the bed they see fit to raise the price up a notch![:@]
Waldo.......where did you pick up those floats you posted awhile back? I figure I have to make a waterproof bird and just fly in this garbage weather someone had the audacity to call summer! [:'(] Did you get the package I sent out the week before last?
Sounds like you boys in Tornado Alley have been getting a beating........happy to hear you're all safe!

2Hi2C Dang man,, I agree with DownT Hope they weren't oilers that went awry, were paying 4.11 now,, this is freakin ridiculous[
]
Buckskin good luck in the chopper world, let us know how you make out, I've been practicing with the helis on my sim and am just waiting for someone to show up with one and let me try the real thing LOL,, or I could just buy one I guess
DownT, The floats on the T_ _ _ T,, if you saw them on a T_ _ _ T[:-] were from someone else's plane here on RCU, I just came across the pic and thought this thread would love to see them, So I wrote him a PM and told him I was going to post his Pic here, I have a set of 40 size Carl Goldberg floats that look identical to those (willing to bet that is what they are) and one day I might just slap them on my T_ _ _ T as it looks great, and I need to try another T_ _ _ T combo out. and no I haven't received it yet, but thanks for sending.

2HI, gotta love that black stuff dont ya? Ive seen my share of spills like that myself lately. I also work in oil. I haul a load a day into the refinery. Problem we are having isnt twisters, its not clutching the jacks before they over flow.
Got 2 more flights on the T___t yesterday. 17 mph winds made it interesting, but a heck of alot of fun. Now that I have the magnum broken in, I need to change the prop. It doesnt have very good vertical with the 13x6 on her. I did switch from a MAS to an APC and it worked much better. Guess its time to pick up a 14X4 and give her a try. The more I fly this thing, the more fun it gets. If the prop change doesnt help, I may........drop the cash for an OS61. Sounds like thats the ticket for this bird. Im thinking the 4500 ft ASL is choking the motors down a bit.

FLIGHT REPORT
The OS .61 FX is a freakin' rocket engine on a T___T!!! I can' t wait to see what she will do once its all run in and I can change props. I am getting slightly better fuel economy also than the .46 AX. The 12 X 6 run in prop is a Master Airscrew and it causes the airframe to make a lot of noise. I bet it flexes 3 inches under load. I just need a few more flights to get to optimum and then I'll go back to APC props. Funny, the first time I went to full throttle some of the guys came running over thinking that maybe my muffler came apart. The sudden change in sound startled them! I landed just to show 'em there was nothing wrong. It is really loud and should go a long way toward pissin' off the electric guys! LOL[:'(]
On an unrelated note, I just ordered a 25% Yak from eastrc.org. Gonna run an OS 1.60 FX in her.
f_shawn I dropped the battery in behind the canopy. Switched from a 600 to an 1100 for extra weight (and flight time). Didn't take time to make a hatch, I just peeled back the covering on the bottom and ironed it back. Took five minutes.

Thanks all...good boys, Im rather fond on em
Nice subdivision goin in across the street. I usually fly my park flyer there just before dark every night. Good streets and tall grass if ya get in trouble, and no one is in there just yet. Peeps are startin to move in though so it wont be long before thats not an option.
We have an AMA sanctioned field here, small town, so its only about 2 miles away even though its out by the lake. Bout 7 of us active in the local club. (only 2 years old)

Plowboy Excellent,,, glad you like the combo
yes I too am a new 61FX user and absolutly love the combo, so my hat was off to DownT for being so persistant and pursuasive on that motor. Keep me updated on the Yak sounds like a nice combo you have planned for that also.
Dennis Awesome !!! so I take it you like the performance better now.
Dad our club has about 5 Regulars every Saturday morning and 15 -20 people total in the club, I think we are about 4 years old this year. so its a great size, we like having a lot of people there just to view other planes and some good conversations, everyone is real nice so that is very cool. a few times a years we might have as many as 12-15 people there at the same time, usually the days someone brings a grill and says free hotdogs this weekend.
FShawn What size Magnum do you have on there again? my 70 4 stroke pulled that thing into orbit with any prop in the recommended range, but I put it on my Ultimate bipe when I swapped the T_ _ _ T to to the 61 and it pulled my Bipe just a tad better then my 46 did, I was really surprized and disapointed on how little it did for the bipe, but it rocks the T_ _ _ T, My cuz has a 75 Magnum on his 40 sized Cap 232 and that thing is a bullet.

Waldo, its the 70 magnum. I figured it would pull it around just fine as well, but so far, the vertical isnt real great. Not sure if its the altitude or not. I bought a 14x4 to try on it to see if it works better. It wouldnt hang on the 13x6. I started with a MAS 13x6 and went to an APC. The APC was better. I could hear the MAS vibrating the crap out of the plane. Nice and smooth with the APC. I just got it broke in, so maybe its just not at its peak yet, I dont know. Im still having fun with it, but really wanted some vertical pull out of it. I adjusted the valves and checked the valve springs, as they are know to be kind of weak. The both feel fine to me. I did put the tach on it and it was spinning mid to low 9000's. If it doesnt improve, I may have to contact magnum and see what the scoop is. It should turn around 11000 or so. We will see what happens. My mustang PTS with the 46 evo has better vertical if that says anything. Its turning an 11x6.

F_shawn, I had a magnum .91 4-stroke in my 40 T-T and I too am at the elevation you are. IMO that's what you need and there's just enough clearance for an apc 14x4W. And at only $20 more than the Magnum .70 you have great vertical pull.

Fshawn, Well that sounds about right actually, I think the normal RPM for the 70 Magnum should be between 9,500 9,600. but I think its capable of the low 1,000's.
the OS 70 produces about 1,100 with 1.3 bhp and the 14x4 is what I used the most. but it 3d's much better with the 13x4 probably because of the weight. but I also used a 12x8 and it had some pretty good speed. but vertical has never been a problem with any of the props.
To the moon no prob. good luck and let us know what happened.

F shawn, I also think a 13x4 would be a better choice. Not the wide though. For 3-D, a quick throttle is just as important as thrust. Prop it with whatever where it peaks in the high 9's and has some snap to the throttle up. I use a 13x4W on my .63 YS which is more powerful than my .70 Surpass.

Good show dennis sorting out your problem. A few years ago one of the Tw**ters tried 7" if I remember right. The plane locked into a spin he couldn't escape from. I wonder which of us is over 5", and how much? I know a few people are.

Pretty sure you can escape from about any spin with enough horsepower.

Thanks for the input guys. I was wondering about a 13x4. I put the 14x4 on it and it would not tach over 8500. I took it off immediately. I also noticed air bubbles in my fuel line. turns out I had to remove the tank and redo some foam. It flew alot better. I also put the 13x6 back on it. It would tach around 9700 but I think I got it a bit lean. OOPS!!!! It would climb alot better after the fuel tank fix, but still would not hang on the prop. I guess if it wont hang on the prop, I will just enjoy it until I get my bipe and over power the he!! out of it.

Just thought I'd update... I put on that UCD gear from GraphTech (Thanks for the suggestions for the gear (waydown2low) and the graph tech link (linkadrip))
It did exactly what I needed. The bird looks a little funny because she sits so tall now, but I'll certainly get used to it. Now I'm ready to break in that fire breathing Saito 82.
Hmm... Maybe here in a little bit I can fire her up in the front yard.

Kerwin, im running 15% Omega. I can get it through the club for a pretty good deal, and its also what most of the hobby shops sell. I have not seen any 20% in any of the hobby shops. Its either 15 or 30 heli. I was hoping it would do well on 15. I didnt want to pay $28 a gallon for 30% like I did when I was racing offroad with my girlfriends son. That gets pretty expensive.

All I ever use is 15% not that its the best but it does everything I ever need it to do.
Fshawn you should be able to hang that girl on the prop for sure, I hope you get it worked out.
I think the Twipe had a CG of about 13 LOL

I ran 2 tanks of break-in through my twist. I got to half throttle by the end of the second tank and ... wholy crap, this thing will have PLENTY OF HORSEPOWER. Granted, I didn't have the wing on it, but it was trying to pull vertical at under 1/2 throttle, spewing smoke and oil all over the place.
That 15" prop hanging off of the front looks absolutely huge also.
I LOVE IT!!!
