One more question!!
I'm going to try a 12.25 X 3.75 APC prop as plowboy mentioned.
What i really want to know is which prop will give me a good vertical/hover with my TT .46 without loosing much pull??
Thanks a lot.

Just gotta try em, depends on what your motor likes

The 12.25x3.75 or the 12x4 or 12x4W APC. I run a 12x4 MAS K-Series (like an APC "W") on my 50SX.

I swear I think it unloads to the 15-16K range...but I love the sound

I've tried both the 12¼x3¾ and the 12x4 on a 50SX. I ended up staying with the 12x4.

OK here i go again.
I have an Optic 6 setup for the Twist. I have a normal config already setup.
I've just found a link with the following Control Throws.... (Different than the original manual)

Aileron: ± 1 in. low; ± 15â„8 in. high; 30% expo
Elevator: ± 1 in. low; ± 2 in. high; 25% expo
Rudder: ± 13â„4 in. low; ± 2 in. high; 20% expo

I just noticed it says Expo at the end which i believe i can configured it on my Optic 6.
Is this the right Config??
Any better one for the Optic?
I promise no more messages for today

Welcome guys.
When you install the ca hinges drill a small hole in the center of the slots for ca to wick in.
Somtimes I drill an pin my hinges with toothpicks.
Well I poured a bunch of concrete yesterday and I need 1 more day of rest. I told the little wife that I want a day to fly but it has to be after a rest day. Need to be at the top of my game,.
Waldo I wish I could afford to have some one build my house but fact is I'm too poor. What I've decided to do is build on to a 24 * 30 building with a 20*28 foot addition. living in the trailer that is only a 12 * 50 is just way to cramped.
If I get the wife's house done then I get a hanger next to my runway

Zeek don't worry about how many times you post in a day. I use an Optic 6 at times and I like 50 to 60% expo on mine

zeek78,

you will love that combo. Now I know alot of people are going to disagree with this [sm=72_72.gif], but I used to fly my buddies PT 40 with the OS .50SX and there was no noticeable power difference between that and the TT.46 pro. I had mine on a TT World Trainer 40H and it would almost hang it on the prop. After it was broke in may have. It only had a 1/2 dozen flights on it before it took a nap in the bottom of a pond... Now I am a big OS fan myself and I currently own 4 of them, so please be gentle...

I had both the .46 FX and the .50 SX on the same 4 Star 40. I couldn't tell the difference in power. I'm sure in some kind of lap racing the extra power of the .50 would carry the day. For just tooling around like I do, it didn't matter.
Oh and Zeke, post away! It will make up for the folks in this thread who post once a year.

Wow welcome aboard new and returning T _ _ _ Ters

Well all the questions have been answered so here is my 02

All the stuff supplied in the box works great, CA hinges are no problem at all, and most of all Train those thumbs without expo or not lol and make sure you have a blast.

Kerwin glad to hear the concrete is in,, man thats a tough gig, we poured a 43 x 32 alaskin slab and I did masonary work for a summer about 20 years before the slab and I swore off doing anymore concrete work after that, we were on our knees hand trowling for about 12 hours on a nice 90 degree day we actually started losing the concrete and had to start adding water at the end but it came out okay. and needed 3 days recoup time plus all the burns from the lye... uggly[&:][&o] then I was talked into building a concrete foundatioin and doing a pour in my Moms garage last year, so I guess there is no getting out of it when people know you know how to do it. lol

Well off to bed and tomorrow we get to try our new soap box derby ramps we just spent a month building.. yee haaa happy flights all

By the way, I think when they say 30% expo, they probably mean -30 don't they?

I don't know how Hitec does it any more. I had an Optic 6 but can't recall if - or + was more or less sensitive... Easiest way to check is to fire it up to 100% and see if it's super sensitive around center or seems to be really sluggish around center. The normal use for Expo, especially on a 3D type plane, is to calm down the controls around center so that you don't over-correct like crazy. If you go the wrong way, it'll be SUPER sensitive and likely hit the ground very quickly in an involuntary manner.

Waldo, good luck with the derby. I'm sure the kids are gonna have a blast that they will always remember.

Kerwin, what can I say man....better you than me! LOL I remodeled two houses in three years and didn't live in either of them for more than a couple of months once they were completed. Go figure!

zeek, just set the throws according to the manual. I personally use three rates, HIGH, HIGHER, and WHAT THE -!!!! You won't use your low rates for very long. Plug in quite a bit of expo to start but you will want to dial that down very soon as well.

I have questions about setting up my new 25% Yak. What would be the proper forum for that. Does anyone know where I can get good info like on this one? Maybe I'll start one and hope some of you guys will drop in and give me some advice.

zgillette, we forgot to mention the one exception, get a better tailwheel. Sullivan makes a good one. The one provided is attached to the rudder and if it snags on something (like mine did) you'll be making repairs. The supplied tail gear will work but you would be better off just installing the Sullivan from the get go.

I never did end up getting a better tailwheel. Now that I look at my ultra stick, which has the same tail wheel, I realize that I should have.
Oh well, when it gets all bent out of shape, I'll be sure to cut it off and upgrade.

RC right on man, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But when it does break, fix it right! I tried to grab a Sullivan today but the LHS didn't have any.

We are supposed to get a break sometime this weekend from all the rain and cold. Possibly get up to 60 F tomorrow. I hope so. I feel bad for the ones who haven't had any breaks yet this year. I don't know how you deal with that![:@]

Amen DT LOL

Plowboy the derby practice runs went well today and all the kids had a great time as always only 3 wrecks and 1 who took out about 20 cones out of 50 on the way down.. Tomorrows the big competition, and we were very happy our home made built ramps actually worked.

Zeek I am an OS man but when it comes to the TT PRO 46, All I can say is it's a real powerhouse an it has more umph than the OS's.
Well today was a rest day and a windy 1 at that about 30 to 50 mph winds [&o]
So maybe it will be better tomorrow

Got to fly at least a half dozen times today.[sm=punching.gif] Brought the T@#$T and my Edge 540. Only flew the T@#$T!!! Its just more fun. Thats all there is to it. I'm getting closer to dialing it all the way in like it was with the other engine. I tried a 14 X 4W APC prop today. I don't like it for the .61 Fx. The engine wouldn't unload as well and couldn't get to rpm fast enough for me. Next is the 13 X 4 APC and I think that will be about right. Getting better fuel economy than the .46 AX.

Never did get the sunshine we were promised today. Although it looks like it is clearing now that I type this (figures) at 8:06pm. We flew in a light rain off and on and about 50 degrees all day. [:'(]

Waldo, man I gonna have to go along with Kerwin on the derby video. Especially if you figured out a way to downhill the ramps as well! Sounds like a great weekend.

Kerwin, is there a lot for sale next door? I might want a neighbor with a runway.[&:]

AdamG glad to hear your T@##T lives again!!

I want to try rolling harriers. Are any of you doing that maneuver with this plane?

Also, I still can't get the thing to climb in the inverted flatspin. I actually think it was closer to climbing with the .46AX. [:@]
