I know this is a new plane on the market but what is your thoughts on using a G-38 for power in this plane. And on the other hand what do you think about a OS-120 pump or a OS 160 FX.

A G-38 is pretty heavy... if you wanted to go Zenoah I'd go G-23. Both the G-23 and the OS 1.20 would allow it to fly scale maneuvers with no problem. If you want to put a gasser in and have some zip... I'd go ZDZ-40.

Hey Foolish - I was gonna do the exact combo you have - a 182 in the T craft. What prop are you using? Did you have to add any nose weight? what about servo placement/battery etc. Any advise you could give me would be cool... also could you define Awesome power to me?? I also have a ZDZ 40 but I think thats just overkill - how does the 182 pull her up out of a hover? or vertical perf.? Thanks for all

ASAT,
I'm using an 18-6 Zinger, not into 3d yet but it took off in about 15 feet with the 182. I'm using a backup battery system with 2 1700 mah NiMH placed under the seat. No nose weight it balanced perfect.

Foolish, did you have any trouble mounting the engine? do the carbs clear the cowl? can you mount the motor inverted if they do? Did you move the engine forward at all?

ASAT,
I had no problem mounting the motor. I had to make some hard wood standoffs (about 1-1/4"). It fit fine under the cowl. Only had to cut for needle valves on both sides. And yes I did mount the tail braces.

It is full bodied with hat, earphones and glases. It was $132.00.
I used Dave Brown control horns. I didn't like much of the Hangar 9 stuff. I used carbon fiber puch rods, Sullivan pull-pull for the rudder. Tru-turn 2-1/2" alum. spinner.

They are just over 1" just enough to catch and then pull tight.
Are you making any changes to you Taylorcraft? This is actually my 3rd one. First one set up like my 3rd Saito 182 twin but I only had 1 battery and I didn't secure the lead so it disconnected mid flight and had a tragic ending. I bought my 2nd from member of my local clug with a G23. It couldn't get out of its own way. Terrible combination. Hangar 9 and Saito both replaced plane and motor of first one and that is what I am flying now.

Right now I'm working on a GP Patty Wagstaff 300. I am going to use a D/A 50 gas. I have about 3 other planes that have to be flight tested as soon as the weather gets better around here.

Right now the only changes I am making is the elevator setup - I havent decided on one of those bellcrank units or just add a servo and use CF pushrods, I am going to do some cosmetics, interior, roll cage etc. That DP 300 sure got a good review in R/C Report - looks like a nice kit, that DA 50 should be perfect for it

I sure don't - there is a FAQ thread at the top of the forum menu - it has how to post a picture topic in it. We havent invested in a digi camera yet - gonna have to do that!!
