RACJ,

I don't think you can squeeze anything bigger than whats on it. I was going to try and even 1/4" bigger wouldn't work without messing with the pants. I just got rid of the wheels they supplied and put DuBro wheels on it. I like DuBro's better than those that came with it. I'm looking forwar to seeing Walt's set-up.

I just got my twist 150 last week, and I'll be putting a Brillelli 26 in it. I've hot hitec 5945s on all surfaces. Should be a blast to fly with such a strong engine. As soon as the engine gets here next week, I'll post pics of the install.

Oh, and when I put it together, all of my linkages were the wrong length. Anyone else have this problem? It ended up not mattering as I chose to use ball links instead, and it was the only problem in a ridiculously easy assembly.

Yep,

The first one I had that hit a tree on it's Maiden flight were to long and the second one had the same problem. Nothing but the airframe sustained damage so I just used the ones that took me hours to cut and bend until I got them right. Your not the only one. I also used 4-40 DuBro Safety lock Kwik-link locking clevises on all the pushrods for the control surfaces. The ones that came with the ARF hit the trash as soon as I saw them. Theres nothing worse than having a junky clevis come loose.[&o] I would suggest changing yours.

Walt,

Sometimes RCU's server for the pictures is on the blink and maybe you can get one out of four to go through. I just wait and try again later. Your set-up looks good. How much weight do you have on the tail? Waiting for more photo's.

It looks real good.I prefitted OS160 to my plane today. Right cheek already cut by previous owner and muffler for OS almost perfect fit. Unless you had to use a bunch of weight to balance CG or feel the OS160 will tear the wings off this is way I'll go. I may use 17/6W to keep the wheel pants. THANKS for pics and set-up tips. RACJ

I was going to fly today but it was to windy. Maybe Saturday, it's supposed to be nice. I hope you Guy's really enjoy the 160 set-up's. They are going to have plenty of power thats for sure. I'll just putt around with my Saito 150

NCIS, I'm sure the Saito 150 is plenty for this plane,I have OS160 with one tank on break-in stand sitting here with no plane is only reason I'd use it. I think throttle control and smooth flying would be better with 4stroke than with the power of 160 2stroke I just can't make myself buy new engine with this one sitting here.

Hi Barry,

Had to place 1 3/4 oz weight on the tail...
I will most likely ad more in the future as my
plane are ALL on the tail heavy side...

More flight time,

I went out today and flew for about 4 hours. I am loving this plane more and more each time I fly it. Today on my last landing I was almost out of fuel and haven't ever flown the Saito 150 that long. I thought I still had plenty of fuel left but didn't. Anyway I came in and flared and the plane just barely touched down so I pulled back on the elevator to keep the tail on the ground. Well instead it took off with no power. I knew I was in trouble because I was idling and figured I was going to stall. I gave it full power and it went vertical about 50 feet before I turned and made another approach for landing. I landed the plane and was done for the day so I emptied the fuel tank. It ran for 3 to 4 seconds and it was empty. I guess I bounced or took back off because the nose was so light without any fuel on board. I was sure happy I had the power of the 150 to get me out of a sure crash situation. It was incredible and everybody thought I had bit the bullet on that one. They were amazed at the vertical this plane has. Anyway I had an exciting day and was happy to clean it up in one piece and take it home for another day.

Well,

I have completed 6 flights now and I LOVE the
150 & 160 combination...

I thought it would we WAY overpowered but it
is doing things that only my Tribute Profile with
a Webra 36 and Moose can has done..

You can go from an inverted flat spin, then slowly
let off the rudder while cranking in FULL throttle
and it will spin inverted at 65 degrees ...
Then can fly the spinning plane up and down with
the Throttle... JUST WILD TO FLY and WATCH..

Will try once again to attach more photos...

Walt,Glad you posted this. I cut cheek for 160 muffler, then had 2nd thoughts and almost used pumped OS120sur11 I have. I'll definitely use 160. I had a 91FX and could never get mid-range right, left bad taste in my mouth for 2strokes. How does your 160 transition?? Any tips on smooth running(fuel, plug,TUNING,etc)appreciated. I seem to have better luck with 4strokes and gassers. THANKS,Ressie Creech

Mouth full of oil,

When I was flying my Twist 150 yesterday I went to pick the plane up off the table to carry it to the flight line. Just as I picked it up the wind completely changed direction. It was out of the west and as I picked up the plane it went due east. I always pick the plane up so the residue goes away from me. This time I got it. It hit me right in the face. It covered my sun glasses and went right in my mouth. It took three Cokes to finally get rid of the taste. I was wondering if anybody else ever got a mouth full.[8D] That is some nasty tasting stuff. I personalized my plane some more.

Okay....that's it ...I'm ordering one of these Monday. My LHS stocks them but they don't stay on the shelf very long. I'll order one and have them put my name on it. I've already got a G26 and radio equipment. looking forward to having a blast like you guys. What servos you guys using?? I'm a Futaba man so talk Futaba or Hitec to me. I was thinking Futaba S3010 everywhere except throttle. 6 volt system.

I'm using Futaba 3305 MG High Torque servos in mine. 2000 mah NiMh 6V Battery pack. I got my name thru Callie Graphics just like the girl I have on the fuse and wing.

Nice girl. I mean it. NICE girl...and she will be on plane as well, for sure. I'm in the sign biz and own a large scale outdoor digital printer by Roland. Prints 720 by 720 dpi standard resolution on 2ml. cast vinyl from Avery. Getting the girl decal is no problem. Thanks anyway....
You're using strong servos but slightly on the slow side...I may go with the S3010's for their modest strength but quick speed (.15 se./60) and decent price ($21.60 if you get at least 3 from Towers). But still researching....

I'm using the same battery pack as you NCIS. I've got the jr126mg servos in mine. DX-7 works great with it.

I recently crashed my trainer and want to log more hours on a trainer before I fly the T150 more. I soloed the T150 but want more practice before regular flying of it. This is my favorite plane and have spent the most on it. I bought a new trainer arf but have to get it built and some hours on it before I'll take the T150 up again. It's hard to just stare at the T150 everyday in the garage but I know it will be worth the wait, even though my instructor said I'm capable of flying it now.[sm=tongue_smile.gif]

snacker,

Just remember to keep your flying of the Twist 150 light and easy until you really get the hang of it. I'm still just basically flying patterns and once in awhile do a few manuevers up high so if I screw up I can recover in time. I don't want to crash my Baby. Good luck with your flying.

Could someone give me the width between the cheeks? I really want this plane and am looking at what engine would fit well.

sirmombo,

It's 3" exactly between the cheeks and I'm running a Saito 150 in mine. It is way overpowered but that is the way I like my planes. The 150 is a tight fit but with some minor work on the inside of the throttle side cheek with a dremel it will work great. You just have to make an indentation on the inside so the throttle can move in and out. It is not visible from the outside and makes for a very clean appearence. Get one and let us all know how your doing.

Good luck,

Gibbs

Hello Raptor -

I am building a Twist 150, and plan on goin g electric. I was wondering what was the size (height) of the landing gear you are using on yours. I may have to swing a 20" prop, so I am sure that the stock gear will not work. How tall are yours, and where did you get them?

Cheers,
Ren

Ren,

Why do you need such a large prop? Do electrics need bigger props?

Gibbs
Gibbs -

Apparently electrics do require larger props than one would run on glow/gas engines. I am brand new to electrics, but as I understand it in order to get the watts (=HP) needed I have to get the motor to draw the required current. That can be done through either RPM (=volts), or larger diameter props (=higher current draw). The electric motors we have so not support the kind of RPM that we see in glow engines, however they are available with tremendous torque. That is why I need to run a large high pitched prop (somewhere between an 18x10 and 20x10).

The setup I am building in the Twist should yield in excess of 1500 watts.

I still need larger landing gear to clear that big prop!

Cheers,
Ren
