RE: Twist 3D 150 ARF
Need some pics of TWist 150's with there Engine compartments lopped off lol. I received my BCM spec Sport 26 cc engine yesterday, and i can see its going to take some modifications to ge this engine on the plane tooks some pictures so you can kinda get an idea of what i'm reffering to. Never modified a plane to fit an engine so, looking for pics of other peoples planes that have been modified, so i can get an idea of what i can do here, the pitts style muffler will be the one i'm using so the engine may be mounted upside down. depends on how the muffler fits.
Any Links or Any web sites to mods of this type would be great thanks

First time I've been in a "brotherhood" 10 is a good number.
Oh, I should get my brillelli 26 today or tomorrow. I'll get it in asap and post pics. Scott at Brillelli did a custom job for me to make it mountable without having to do much more than trim the cheeks so the muffler and carb will have clearance. He turned the case around so the standoffs would come right off the backplate and be about 2.5" or so wide. Also made the standoffs to the correct length for where I wanted the prop hub. Kicker: No extra charge.

Link,
Look back in this Thread and you will see where Walt and Sage cut the cheeks off and made a 26 work. It looks nice too. I think that is all you will have to do. Well it's nice to see that Outa took control of the Club and assigned numbers. GOOD JOB Outa!!!!![sm=thumbup.gif] Now we have this thread on the right track. Keep those posts coming.

Got the OS160 mounted in mine. Need to set CG and control throws and she's ready to fly. Would have it done but my youngest daughter went in for emergency appendix surgery. I'll finish this week end and break motor in while watching my daughter. Glad to be in the Brotherhood.

Almost finished a major build (construction part)....a 1/4 scale Piper Pawnee. As soon as I get the last part done, the wing strut, I'll be a choppin' my front end off the Twist too with a saw. The only way I see to do it. Kind of exciting to think I'll be using gas for this instead of glow for once.

RE: Twist 3D 150 ARF
Got my Brillelli today, I couldn't wait and had to install it. It was extremely easy due to the custom work done by Scott at Brillelli. I only had to cut the cheeks a little. I still have to wire up the ignition and install the tank, but it'll be up in no time. I can't fly this weekend, but it'll be in the air next week sometime and I'll give a report of how the engine runs. I expect it to be great.

I've got to admit...this is a really different looking plane you've created, crebulus. Smoke stack straight up like a big rig diesel truck! You guys have really got me itchin' to start on mine....but it's gonna be a few days before I can get to it. I'll post pictures too. Nice work, crebulus!

Very Nice looking I like the custom mounted engine. and you didnt have to remove the cheeks. That is great, i haven't chopped on mine yet not going to do anything till i get my Pitts muffler then i'll start messing with it. I notice that the Standoffs are the ones that come with the plane. Are 4 long bolts used for that setup crebulus?
I was thinking of using them too but have to make a trip to the Hardware store to find some bolts long enough to go through the engine and standoffs and through the fire wall. Great looking plane, sure it will fly good too.

crebulus,
I'm happy I started this Thread!. It is awesome to see all the different setups you Brothers are coming up with. Yours looks great crebulus and really nice with the cheeks still intact. Keep those pictures coming. I wish I lived where it was warm so I could enjoy flying but here in Wisconsin it is almost over for us. We might get 2 or 3 more nice days but then its Burrrrr cold. Then I build. I already started back on my TF 1/8 scale F4U-1A Corsair build. When I finish it then it's on to my Don Smith Monster 1/4 scale F4U-1A Corsair.

Well i finally got my pitts muffler for my engine and the fabrication will commence soon putting the 26 cc Gasser into the TWIST 150. i'm so glad i dont have to alter my typing of the name here.
I will post pics as soon as i can get this thing mounted in there i'm going to attempt to install it with the cheeks first and then if that doesnt work there coming off. in which case i may consider building a cowling for it of some sort.
Keep Twisting

Link,
Be sure to post those pictures as soon as you can. I'm interested in seeing it. I haven't been spending much time in this Forum lately. I'm building a 1/8 scale Top Flite F4U-1A Corsair and have a build thread on the Warbirds Forum. Thats where I've been.

RE: Twist 3D 150 ARF
Well i have done a little work to it so far. the pitts muffler isnt going to work onthis plane without some major modifiaction. So i just Whent back to the prigianl muffler to make it easier. But still there is alot of things i can see that are going to make it difficult to mount the engine. One is i have no clue how i'm going to hook the throttle up with the carb sitting outside the checks the way it is. i mean the throttle arm itself is in a location were it inside the cheeks but well i guess the pic may show it. Hard to explain.
I may have to cut deeper into the checks and get the engine farther up in there before i will have a good line up with the throttle. This plane obviously was not meant to have an engine mounted upside down i guess. I'm sure it will work itself out just have to take my time soits not going to happen fast waiting on 2 inch standoffs for it now.
I notice crebulus has his carb out there a ways maybe some tips on hooking up the throttle??

Link,
I saw a Guy that made his throttle come out the top through the hatch. If he could figure his problem out I'm sure you can. Just think scratch build and it will come to you. Now back to my Warbird build Forum.
Good Luck,

RE: Twist 3D 150 ARF
Maidened my twist today. I wanted to get video, but ran off and forgot the camera. The Brillelli is an incredible engine. Tuned it, and flew, didn't touch it after that. I'd recommend anyone wanting a gasser on this thing to get one from Scott, you won't be disappointed.
link, I tried a couple different ways to run my throttle, and settled on moving the servo as far the the side of the fuse as I could, then I ran a long arm outside of the fuse and came up to carb with some 2-56 and used a ball link on the throttle. It works great for the most part, but the long arm gives too much throw and I can only turn it down so much in the radio. So at the halfway point on the stick, I'm at full throttle. I can manage it fine, and it doesn't really matter to me, but I'd like to find a way to correct it. Any ideas anybody? I'll post pics as soon as I can, not at home right now.

Yes post some pics of your throttle setup it sounds very intresting. And as long as it is working that is great. But i can see were a long arm like that would give it to much throw. A very intresting problem. like NCIS said i think scartch build and have thought of some linkages that may work. But of course have to try it first before will know for sure. Still want to see that throttle setuup Crebulus.

RE: Twist 3D 150 ARF
Well I got started...and it got brutal. I chopped the whole front end off 'cause I thought for a firewall designed to take a 1.50 sized engine...it was truly pathetic. There was no meat on them bones...[>:] but I'll fix that. When I get done, this engine will look like a natural fit. Got to convert the tank to gas and reglue the forward tank supports that were on the original firewall. Other than that, this should be a breeze. I'll keep you posted.
