Default Sealing hinge gaps (what do you use)?

Just a quick question on sealing gaps. What kind of material do you use? i have used moncote in the past but on the DP Ultimate it says to use "magic tape". Am I to assume this is a scotch tape like item??
Thanks
Jeff

As far as I know, you can use any film that seals the gap.
It shouldn't matter that much.

I use clear Ultracoat. The paper back makes it easy to cut to the correct size, and you don't have to worry about matching the colors/trim of the plane.

Also use clear ultracoat. Works great.

I use clear Ultracote and just did this on my red DPM Ultimate 40. It is completely invisible from about 2'. It is also the easiest way to seal hinge gaps, IMO.

Do not use tape of any kind. I tried on 1 plane to use clear packaging tape, but the fuel ate it up very quickly. In fact most of it did not last through 1 day of flying. Getting it lined up correctly before it sticks is hard to do as well.

I prefer monokote, but I've used clear packing tape when I was running short of monokote. Just make sure that you use alchohol to clean the surfaces and you shouldn't have any problems with tape.

Ultracote. Clear if the gaps are tight, and opaque/matching colors to hide the gaps that aren't.

Yes and that dave brown stuff doesn't work worth a s***.
I tried it to seal my Flip 3D gaps and my sudokhoi gaps and the stuff just does not stick.

However it may have been intended for sealing gaps before you put on the main covering but I didn't see anything about that in the instructions.

Scotch Crystal Clear Tape.

It's usually on the shelf near the reagular scotch tape, looks the same except it comes in a red container. This is really tough stuff. You can't rip it with bear hands. I've had it on a Morris Knife for about 200 flights and it's holding strong. Give it a try.
