There are about 8 at my field and the guys that have them love them, they are very nice and they fly great. The only thing the guys have had to do is cut a little of the foam out of the bottom of the hatch to make them fit the 2200mah lipos.

Several of the guys at our field have them. We found that the CG needed to be forward a little bit. It was best right on the middle of the main wing-tube to avoid tail heavy flying characteristics. This would put it about 1/4" forward of the CG specified in the instructions.
I was wondering if anyone else had similar experiences. It is a small plane and the CG distances that can make huge differences can therefor be relatively small.
The guys that are going for the full-flap-retract-pilot-cockpit-detail options are fitting 32 outrunner E-Flite motors. All in all it is a work of art that is closely followed by their Taylorcraft 450's
Regards,
Eric.

Gnirwin , I have two builds ahead of it still bashing a 64" Balsa products P40 ,
I may start this one over xmas holiday .
I am going eletric with the suggested power system from E-flight .
The plane appears to be very scale , nice split flaps that slide into the wing main section with a pin so you can easily disassemble the wing .
Counter balances in the tail , tail is thick unlike regular H9 fule warbirds .
Covering was flawless out of the box .
I plan on light weight interior , panel lines and weathering , retracts

Mine flies great! But, the monocoat on the top of plane bubbled and wrinkled severly in the hot California sun(about 100deg F)> Came out of box OK,just wrinkled in the heat.
Takeoffs are smooth, flight is VERY smooth and easy to control...........landings,well lets just say I need a new canopy(nosed over both times)otherwise perfect.
The suggested power 25 motor is just fine for this plane.....plenty of zip in flyby's.Actually will tip the plane if you "gun it" too fast,so be careful on throttle.

I just about have mine finished. All that is left is set the control throws and expo. I am going to have to add some lead to the nose to get it to balance. Hopefully, weather permitting, I will be able to maiden this plane next week.
A question to those flying this plane already, anything that I need to be aware of before the first flight?
It looks awesome!!![8D]

I have two flights on my Texan, well actually one, the first could not be considered a flight. The CG in the plane is critical and is measured from the front of the wheel wells and NOT the front of the wing leading edge. Even with two 2200 mah batteries against the firewall, I still needed to add weight to the nose. She flies like a warbird - sensitive to elevator and aileron even with low throws. My only complaint is that the center section of the wing assy is made with paper thin balsa. hard landings that would not bother most planes will tear up the gear and surrounding balsa. It is a great looking plane and once you get the CG right, flies well.
The first photo was before the first flight(?). The second, a few seconds later. She did clean up well and went back to the field looking almost new.

i can tell you i had no luck at all with mine even the wing didnt line up with the saddle in went in and from there it was terrible i took my time about 4 months december to april.there is one thing i want you to know i see grass in the picture when ever you get a plane and you fly off grass put some extra balsa and epoxy in there to make it strionger you will save a lot of rePAIR on anything from foam to wood trust me so much trust me we get planes now and before we go out we put in all the repairs needed before it falls apart like yours.my texan was double walled for support and all else failed but not that part it came off in chucks.one other thing grass is nothing but a killer on retracts.
