I am putting togeather a Hanger 9 Cap 232. I started working on the tail section and found that I could not get the vert fin to go all the way into the fuse. Has anyone else had this problem? I am looking for som help on how to fix this.

Well it looks like you have the stab in to me! Are you concerned about the 1/4" gap behind it? Or are you talking about the Gap at the fuse and rudder intersection? You haven't even attempted to put the tailwheel assembly in yet? Or have you and your still concerned about the 1/16" Gap.

your pic is maybe just a tad to close up to see what is going on here but take some of the scrap covering that you take off before glueing and put it on that tail post, even with a proper fit you would still see bare wood. is the front off the vertical stab hitting to fast or is the tail post bottoming out on something? if its the vetical stab you can peel back the covering and take a little bit off so everything can move forward. Its been a while but i seem to think i may have shaved some off of my tail post then covered it then the overhang isnt noticeable. Side note i had ca hinges fail and went to robarts.

I will need to cut about 1/4" of turtle deck, is this ok? Also I would have to cut the post an 1/8" and the balsa in the fuse 1/8" .
Can I do this without hurting anything

Sounds close enough, Capn...the side to side fit is really what is important, and that the fin rests completely on the top of the stab in the slot....that's the gluing surface that bears a LOT of load.
