Default Lanier 80" Cap 232 - Canopy coming off

I was flying my Lanier Cap 232 80" and the canopy came off in mid flight. Has anyone else had the same problem? Any suggestions?

What did you use for attachment ?
Did you use R/C - 56 and !/4" trim tape ?

I had the same problem with mine. I had to purchase another one from Lanier and this time I used 3/16 ply and 3 bolts per side to attach the canopy. I also used some sylicone under the canopy plastic and used small screws to attach it to the frame so no air could get under the plastic. If you use a pilot figure, make sure you put some 1/32 or 1/16 inch ply under the pilot area.

Thanks for the great info. Would you mind posting a picture of the fix. I believe this is what I need to do also. Thanks again.

I have tried to post pictures on this forum and have been unsuccesfull. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I've been using a cheep digital camera that uses a bitmap format. I just cant get it to post. Let me know if you know how to post pictures.

Steve, Try saving the pictures in .jpg or .jpeg format. The compression is much greater and is the default displayable format here on RCU. Try emailing a moderator or email the pics to me, and I will convert them and post for you.

Yet another Steve

aftcg:
Sorry for my reply, I thought the canopy came off; but the way it
sounds it was the entire hatch that came loose.

What do you guys think about the quality and how does it fly. Any tips or tricks when putting it together? I am thinking about putting a 3.2 Fox on one. Is it built heavy enough for it or will I need to beef it up?
Thanks,
JB

its not the greatest quality but it flys good and tips when building put your rudder servo under where the pilot figure would go and use pull-pull for the rudder control i used a nelson bellcrank and it works good call and talk to don at dons hobby and he'll set you up i have that combo (Cap ARF/Fox 3.2) and it flies good oh and i hover about 5/8 throttle with a mejzlik 21X10 i just got a Mejzlik 22X8 and my engine is getting more power as it breaks in (i only have about 3/4 gallon through it) well good luck if you need help with anything just post a topic and you'll get replys good luck!!!
