OK, for an arf
The GP Space Walker / Surpass .91 combo is my "everyday" airplane. It's been up for 1/2 hour-plus once or twice. Moving the servos forward deleted the need for nose ballast. Wing bolt plastic anchors shattered quickly, new ones are oak. Mine wasn't right stock, too much wing pos. incidence. Lowering the leading edge about 3/16" fixed it. Added Sullivan tailwheel unit, Magnum aluminum spinner with APC 14x8. It's been flying about 3 seasons now, going strong. It's gotten tail bracing wires, and the pilot got a custom painted Space Walker helmet.
We fly at 6300 feet elevation and a big wing like on the SW helps a lot. Keeps landing speed down.
One of these days I'll replace the dumb-looking plastic wingtips with balsa and brace the elevator pushrods.
I've been thinking of building a tapered, symmetrical replacement wing for hotter performance. Also, been kicking around the idea of a Space Walker Biplane...
Was doing inverted figure 8 passes one day and after a few, heard a guy tell another, "He's still inverted." That was fun
Went for an outside loop once on low rates [X(] we cleared the ground inverted by about a foot <WHEW>
It's really great on skis, touch-n-go on snow!
Sometimes the Space Walker feels "just right", other times I want to get rowdy. That's what the Hog-Bipe's for!

Space Walker GP ARF!
Hey Swooper!
I love the fine work or art you have!
Although I didn't need to change the incidence,
and the wing caps are very scale like.
I love the work you did on your plane! And it's certain
that you and I have proven that this plane unlike
allot of planes is very,,, VERY versatile.
Flying inverted over the runway about 2ft off the ground
is something not quite hard on this plane and is very fun.
Another thing I really like to do is get it about 800ft
away on approach and about 600ft up and and hold full up
elevator keeping the throttle all the way down, and bring
it all the way in on a nose up stall it almost like a kite.
I love this plane. And later in my life I hope to build
and fly - IN - a real SpaceWalker.
I can't wait to post the finished product of my
new SpaceWalker ! It's even better than the last one!
Also GREAT Pictures! I wish more of our SpaceWalker
enthusiasts would post their well built airplanes. [8D]

OK EVERYONE,
Here is the post that we have been waiting for, Well,,, at least me.
Here are some pictures of MY Finished 2nd SpaceWalker.
Don't be too disappointed, the lighting isn't that great.
I also flew the bird and flies great this plane especially flies better than my first one because it's lighter and it has flaperons!
I have 6 pics. The first two are what I call buying pictures because
the have everything you would want to see as a buyer, the third is a back view picture and the other two reveal some of it's
scale potential. Hope you guys enjoy. P.S. If your new to this thread go buy
a SpaceWalker ARF, You can't go wrong. and Tower Hobbies is selling the bird
for $219.00 not counting the $15 discount!

I tote mine around in a 2002 Saturn 4 door car.
Back seats down and put the wing in back window to dashbd.

I just upgraded my spacewalker to a saito 182 twin because mee to liked the heads comming out on the side of the cowl. he should be ready to fly by next week.

My God Paul, haven't you got another plane to talk about. I've been away since June of last year when I made a post near the begining of this thread under the name AEROSTAR - remember the SW you made fun of because I had dummy engines on it. I come back almost a year later and the thread is still going !!!!!!

OK guys, you have me stoked for this plane! I just recently bought my GP Spacewalker with a new OS 91. I'm just wondering what servos some of you are using with it? It sounds as if standard servo's will do. I'm considering a Hitec HS 475 HB for the elevator, and HS 425 BB's everywhere else. What are you using?

Love that SW done up in PT-19 colors. I'll bet your average fair-goer can't even tell the difference! I'd love to add a bid of scale detail (like a protruting dummy engine or the support wires on the tail) to my Seagull ARF. Which, BTW, I plan to fly with a plain old Magnum 40 2S both because that's what I have and the WWI planes I love were almost all underpowered. If I can do an Immelmann and a barrelroll with a 40 I'll be thrilled!

I just purchased the ARF Sportster Space Walker ARF for the .46 engine. It is a real nice looking plane. I just can't wait to assemble it and get it into the air. I am wondering if an OS 46FX would be enough engine for this plane. Has anyone elso flown the .46 version of this plane. If so, did it balance without adding additional weight, what engine did you chose and mostly---how did it fly.

I've got it powered with and OS 61FX and 12x6 prop. The engine is not broken in yet, but has plenty of power for scale acrobatics with this plane. FWIW, I had to add about 9 oz of lead to the nose!
Here are a couple of pics w/o the cowl.

I'm planning on doing the same thing with a GP Spacewalker. Could you please describe any modifications you did to the plane, such as firewall reinforcement and other structure strengthening. Also, what size prop and rpm were you running at.

I see this is an old thread, but anyone still flying their Great Planes SpaceWalker ARF??
I bought one from a buddy last year, and will be flying it this month(weather permitting).
It has a Saito 91 with MA K-series 14x6 prop and Tru-Turn spinner
...about 9 oz lead on the motor mount.
Aftermarket landing gear with large scale Goodyear tires
I love the look of this plane sooo much, that I plan to purchase a twin cylinder Saito to put on it... any suggestions for what size?? not looking to overpower it, jut eliminate the beed for added lead.
I also am going to modify the firewall area to round it off a bit... I will not be using the cowling at all....
Maiden flight will be with the C.G. at 4.5" as suggested by the manual.

wow... that was a fast response!
I will post video as soon as I fly it... If it really flies that rock solid, that there will most certainly be an inverted low pass on film.
