You live in my old neck of the woods... I'll have to call Glenn at the Hobby Shop in Stockbridge and see if has one... Man ole man.... Having to sneek it in the house....too funny!! If you can get that thing in the house, an engine should be no problem at all. |

The hobby shop in Peachtree City closed. The closest one is Newnan or Stockbridge. I did not see Glenn, I guess he still owns it. Like I said he has a huge inventory, good prices also. You can get a good deal on a consignment if you're fast enough.

Yeah he still owns it. He lives in Mallard Landing in Locust Grove just outside of McDonough and has a real Cessna 180 tail dragger he keeps in his hanger behind the house. Nice place and a great guy.

Thanks. How is the elevator set -up working out? I'm thinking 2 servos rather than clamping 2 pushrods together.

FWIW, I have used the two pushrod clamped together setup on several airplanes. It doesn't seem like it would work but it does. I do add some JB Weld to the setup for overkill. |

Congratulations on finding the ARF, I hope to get mine finished and in the air soon. Assembly is officially on hold until the 25th because my son and his family are visiting for the summer vacation.
I too had thought about using two servos on the elevator but then I remembered that the Super Stearman (really the same size aircraft) has that same setup and it has been working fine. I have a hot enough solder gun so I used that rather than JB Weld. What I did was put on both wheel locks with solder in middle. If I get a chance I’ll try to send a photo. While I am rambling with opinions, I have all of the 3 cylinder Saito radials and the way I calculate how they will perform is only count performance from two of the jugs. The 90R3 works good for a 60 size aircraft, the 170R3 works good for 120 size, etc. I know I have the 170R3 on the Super Stearman and it won’t do 3D but it climbs until I cut the throttle and I usually fly it around the patch at half throttle or less and it is a 15lb aircraft. The ModelAviation.com review used a 95AX and said it was plenty of power. I am not making recommendation here only telling how I chose the Saito 200R3 for mine. |

I am running the Saito 125 in mine with a MPI glow system. This way I did not have to cut up the cowel. Engine runs great with plenty of power. Walt |

It looks like a 170 radial would be perfect for it. I've never had one and it sounds like some guys here are having trouble with them. I bet with the right exhaust it would sound awesome. There's one for sale in the Market place right now too.
The impression I have, is it seems they are more proned to drop a cylinder than a twin is. But d#@n they're expensive. |

I have a saito 120s that is looking for a new home. My tiger moth came apart in mid air Memorial weekend leaving My saito 120s homeless.
The GP YMF5d is on the short list as a replacement , but with the DLE 30 listed as an option I was afraid that the Saito 120S would be underpowered and a little light . Pilot P51 how much weight did you have to add if any? |

Yesterday was a very good day for the Waco at the field. I'm slowly getting the Saito 170R3 sorted out. I've changed out the 4-cell battery for a 2S2P 5300A lipo with an Castle Creations 10A BEC. The battery is a TP Rx Lite that I believe is rated at about 15C and is about the same weight as the 4500 nimh that I was using. I was going to use a 5-cell pack, but I already had the lipo and just needed to buy the BEC, which was a lot cheaper than buying another battery. The engine runs a lot better, but the 7 o'clock cylinger stills drops off. Fortunately the battery setup gets the cylinder lit pretty reliably. Nice thing about the CC BEC is that you can set the voltage where you want it. Default setting on the BEC is 5.1 volts, I'm going to slowly increase the voltage to the plugs to keep them hotter. Someone said that they were using a 5-cell pack on the Sonic-Tronics driver without issue, I figure that if I stay under that I should be good. I put in 4 flights and need to charge the lipo to see how much maH was used for 4 flights. I can then figure out how many flights I can safely get on a charge.
On another note, I got my pilots ready to go, just need to clear coat them. I'll post pics later. FB |

I finally got my Waco together!!!! I'm going to start it this evening. It has been an oven in Oklahoma City this summer. Always over 100* to 110*!!!!!!!! I installed my own pull-pull tailwheel on the Waco. Has a Dle 20 with a special Cessna 195 style muffler Jtech made for the Dle 20. Maybe get a test flight this week of a morning when it is 85* or so... Also, it balanced right on 5 1/4" ....

No extra dummy engine but.........it's pretty pricey.....but you can order one from tower....you'll get a spare cowl and might be able to sell it to help recoup the original cost. Just my $.02 ACF
