RE: u-can-do 60
Yo JW,
Got tied up with some honey do's and household projects and finishing up the UCD 60. Far as the Twist goes, got the extra tri-stock behind the firewall and the 1/16th ply installed and changed out that stinking wing bolt blind nut. I had to order the Sullivan #508 and it hasn't come in yet. All the parts are assembled except for that. I'll probably get to it after we return from out trip to Gainesville on 3-16-05. Very important meeting with our national homeowners claims adjustor. We have to submit all of our damage repair invoices and photos hoping that it will expedite the final settling of our Hurricane damages. If you can believe it, there are still homes here with the roofs covered with blue tarps that haven't been repaired yet. We are still out of pocket about 7K, never know if we get that check, might be a WH Edge 540T that get's ordered :D. |
RE: u-can-do 60
Good luck dealing with the extortion / insurance company.....I have been dealing with a auto insurance claim, whata joke, ...
Keep me posted on the Twist project...Pics required....JW |
RE: u-can-do 60
JW,
Ditto on the extorsion, how about close to a $3500.00 deductible and they still owe us 7K?? Raised our windstorm coverage $400.00 on the November renewal and now they are asking for a 27% increase on top of that!![:'(] It's amazing to find out when you think that you are insured, how really you are not. I'll post some pics to you personal e-mail as the Twist gets together. UCD 60 pics coming shortly on this thread after the final balance and cowl adjustments. The new FA 100 pulled really hard on the fourth tank, wifey has bruises on the back of her legs from the holding the tail feathers :D. Rain tomorrow and then clearing, so planning on running a couple of tanks of the 20/20 through her then. Trying for the maiden on Monday. B.... |
RE: u-can-do 60
Joe,
Following your 000's posts regarding the UCD60, It would be great if you can sum up all the know how that you acquired over the past 3 years by listing the following : What engine(s) servos modifications radio setup That should be done in a review forum or at least a new fourum that is limited to your review. Regards |
RE: u-can-do 60
Yoiks, do you realize what you are asking here? To capsulize or summarize years of chronic verbal diarrhea would be a task of gargantuan proportion to say the least. It would be possible if I could isolate my posts to expedite a review to separate theory from fact, collect images, as the originals are locked in an old Mac in a landfill, somewhere, here in the northeast. Finally, finding the time. The UCD .60 could very well be a museum piece by the time it goes to copy. Let me think about it. In the mean time I will try to ween myself off the anti depressants prescribed after the crash of my first UCD. Joe

RE: u-can-do 60
ok guys, im about to swap the Saito 100 for a YS 1.10 I am afraid as this is my first exp with a YS and I was told the needle settings are screwed up with this engine (thats whay I got it so cheap)
For those using YS, what type of fuel tanks did you guys opt for? I am considering a Hayes myself. Also is there a schematic of the plumbing thats required? Mine came without any instructions so im not sure how to plump it thanks!~ matt |
RE: u-can-do 60
:)Matt, go to www.ysperformance.com and click on products and then click on FZ110 and then click on "on line manual" to get the factory manuals. It is a whooping 2 pages. This is where you get the plumbing info. Go back to home page and click on "instructions" and they will give you more useful information.
Thanks, Barry |

Also some good reading can be found at http://home.comcast.net/~mark.fuess/ys11o.htm Here is the way I routed my lines and an exhaust mod with a Hatori Header. Don't forget props, you can swing a 16/6, 17/4 and a 17/6. Good luck, Joe

One more for good measure. The stock muffler on the header proved to be problematic. The free flow of the exhaust down the 5/8 inch header is now backing up where it joins the stock muffler due to a size restriction. Heat builds up at the connection and is subject to failure. I guess I need a small can muff to make it right. The open header is great but exceeds decible limits at the field. The exhaust routed this way leaves the plane goo free, which is a big plus. Joe

RE: u-can-do 60
Joe and Barry thanks for the info. It looks pretty straightforward. Need to get some check valves and a few T's, otherwise looks like it go in pretty easily. I might stick with the stock muffler and have it hanging out the cowl like I have it now. Its not going to win any awards for being pretty anytime soon so im gonna leave well enough alone ;)

RE: u-can-do 60
Matt, did the seller include the supplied check valve from YS? If not I would recommend getting original equippment, as it is superior to the valves I've seen on the aftermarket. Joe

Spring colors, well actually it looks like a fall color scheme. The last two seasons we seemed to have our share of cloudy and overcast days. With the two shades of blue on the UCD it was easy to lose in a gray sky. I posted somewhere here when I changed to flames. Well it was worse, perhaps the flames were too small, or its just these old eyes. So I got jiggy with a pile of ultracoat and put the boomerangs back. I missed the original scheme and I can see it now, at least untill fall. Check it out. Joe

Looks like you and Stoney are keeping WildHare busy. I'm falling way behind. Still waiting on an EF Yak. Joe

RE: u-can-do 60
Joe,
Cypher the weight and power differences for me on the OS 1.60 vs the YS 1.40 Sport if you can. I gotta meet the guy with the OS at 5pm and I'm trying to work a deal with Central for my NIB 63 FZ-S on the 140 at the same time. Hope to have all the info before I meet with the OS owner. I want to get into this IMAC thing with the Edge. After that I may consider the EF Yak also as GPS says it's a good match for the 110, you're getting one and I'm not getting rid of my 110:D. |
RE: u-can-do 60
[8D]Any chance you've heard about the Giant version of the U CAN DO? What engine size? How does she fly?

RE: u-can-do 60
Talk about digging up the dead, you must have looked long and hard for this thread. The new UCD is out and there is plenty of info on tower hobbies site. I think it calls for a 160 4 stroke. The new Saito 220 would be comfy in it. Better yet, a small gasser. Joe

RE: u-can-do 60
Lee, sweeeeet!! Great pics. The smoke really makes it. Your lower than I've ever been with the UCD. Only shows that you did it right and got the thumbs to handle it. Good luck with the 110, I know your liking it. Joe
