Yes thats the place. The mounts have a selection of spacers that you combine to come up with the length you need.

Looks like once the windows are glued in there is very little room to reach inside for maintenance. If you follow the plans you are only able to reach thru the top window. Has anyone screwed the windows in instead of glueing?

Maybe just attach the front windshield with screws at least you could then get two hands inside.

It looks as if they supply different sets of engine mounts. Which set did you end up ordering?
In a couple of review articles I read they kept all windows off just because of that reason. Although it is a little difficult to get your hands inside, I think the windows are a must. :-)

I glued in my rear windows and left the side windows out. The front window is screwed in.

I ordered the 1-1/2 - 1-15/16 stand offs and used all of the spacers so the measurement for mine ending up being 1-15/16. I read that not every plane has the same measurments. I mounted the cowl and measured from the firewall to the cowl and added 1/8 inch. Then I measured the depth of the engine with the mounting plate attached and the difference was the size standoff I ordered.

Keleo exhaust arrived yesterday. He does real good work. The fit was perfect. I still have not glued in the side windows. I think I am going to attach them with screws. I have screwed on the front windshield. As I said earlier if you're going with the keleo exhaust order now, there is a four to six week wait. I think this exhaust actually made the twin sound better, if thats possible.
The toggle switch you see is for the on-board glow driver. I have no idea why I mounted there :eek:

Thanks for the fast response. That looks great!! Again, looks as if you did an outstanding job. I actually ordered my 1.60 twin yesterday and should receive it middle of next week. I just got off the phone with Keleo and he said there was one more left, so I ordered that today! :-) My bird is not as far along as yours is but I will post some pictures. Ill take them tonight. What spinner are you going to use? The Vortech? Are you planning on turning a 18x6?

I'm unsure about what size air exit holes to cut in the cowl, any suggestions? I read where someone did not cut any.

Your exit hole, as a rule, needs to be twice the size of your air inlets.
I wouldn't take the chance of not cutting them, that motor is too expensive.]
Really depends on how "scale" you want to be.
When your running rich it wont matter that much, but after you get it tuned you run the risk of shortening the life of your twin without a place for that hot air to go.

Here's what I did on mine. If you look close you can see the opening, similar to the real one. Cut it at the firewall area from exhaust over.

Okay, here it is. Maiden tomorrow weather permitting.

The book says balance range is 4" thru 4-7/8 " behind leading edge. It says the ideal cg is 4-3/8". Mine balanced at 4-1/4". I should be okay, right? This was without adding any weight.

The book also says to program in quite a bit of differeintial. Alieron throws are 1 3/8" up and 1/2 " down. Thats alot of differential. I have never used that much before. Looks kind of strange. Any comments?

The struts are going to be time consuming to put on at the field but they look nice.

Any comments or tips regarding the maiden are welcome

Hill, nice job, good luck with your maiden, it should be uneventful as this is a great flying airplane. The CG where you have it should be fine, also why do you have to assemble the struts? I have the full wing version and leave them on all the time, disconnecting/connecting only at the fuselage. I reinforced the bottom half of the kit box with duct tape and lined the floor surface with medium foam and now use it to transport and store the wings on edge and it's a perfect fit! By the way I don't use differential on mine, I mixed 12% rudder with aileron and that takes care of any yawing.

Thanks Orvel, good idea on the struts. I have 20% rudder mixed in. I think I'm going to do away with the differential. If it yaws ,I'll lean on the left stick a little.

Thanks Frank but I don't know about " master rcer". Its 5:00 am and I'm on RCU, I never sleep well the night before a maiden. I went over the maiden flight a hundred times in my mind :D

you will be fine, dont forget to check all the good stuff, range check, servos, screws, throws, battery volts, air pressure in tires , i mean every thing[&:], right now this is the best looking plane in the USA,get it up and down, it will be a head turner frank

Flight report...

Outstanding day! This plane definitly turned heads at the field. Started the engine and you could see heads turning.At our field people will give you the air to maiden a plane so I had plenty of onlookers. I slowly taxied out onto the runway, tried to keep it scale like. I taxied once down the length of the runway, the twin was running very smooth and sounding great. I turned it into the wind slowly applying power. I relaxed the elevator ,the tail popped up and she tracked straight as an arrow. I mean very little rudder input was required to keep it straight. It was so easy I let it run on the runway probably 3/4 of the way before I applied elevater and it climbed as graceful and scale like as I've ever seen. It took about 3 beeps of right alieron to trim it and obtain level flight. Had I balance it laterally that would not have been necessary. I flew the pattern a couple of times and and did a low and slow fly by and you could hear the ooos and ahhs from the on-lookers.

Setting up for landing was no problem this plane will fly slooooow. Greased it in, okay it bounced once, and let it coast to a stop. Then I breathed :)

I did think it was a tad under powered but will see how it does once its broke in.

In summary this plane was well worth the money ( if she only knew) and if you want a head turner then you have to get one... if you can find one.

Wow, sounds very impressive. Glad to hear everything went smooth. How many flights did you get in? What made you feel it might be a tad under powered? Any pics of the maiden?

I got in 3 flights. It maxed out at 7300 with a Zinger 18x6. I riched it down to about 6800 for break in. I know its a Cub but it was very slow and sluggish. I flew pretty much full throttle the entire flight. Once its broken in I am going to experiment with props. I am real curious to hear what you and others think of this combination!

Don't misunderstand me it was a great flying plane, I was just expecting a little more power.

No in flight pics but my son did take some of it on the ground.
