RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size

I recieved mine on Sat, thank you FedEx. I wish Tower used FedEx, it showed scheduled for delivery on this comming Tuesday, my wife and I show up after a day running around and there is a big box on the front porch.

I opened it and looks like a well built aircraft. I have not had a fiberglass fuse before and I really like it. I like the molded in doors, and the vert stab is built in. I have a GP Fabric Cub to finish (just got the robart scale landing gear on it), ready for radio, hinging, and final assembly. Looks like a straight forward assebly even thought the manual is not really clear.

How has everybody done the split elevators? I have an idea but would like to hear other ideas. I am glad they are split as I really dislike the "joiner wire".

I am glad for the plug in wings, I am tired of the one piece wings. Also looking forward to hearing if anybody has put in the Robart Oleo on the nosegear!

well i am almost finished and just encountered an issue. The windshield will not fit, the top is about 3/8 smaller (width) than the top part of the fuse where the windshield is supposed to go.

I don't think you cut it right, the bottom of the windshield is supposed to go into the grove behind the two red trim lines...

Did you leave the white trim line on the clear plastic windshield ???

RE: New CMP Cessna 182 .52 size

i haven't cut it yet.
The top is the part that won't fit.
Where the windshield is bent to go around the black part that's formed like the wing's leading edge. The black part that has the wing's leading edge is about 16mm and the windshield is 15mm wide.

Is it possible to use the stock wheelpant with the Robart oleo strut on the nosegear. I doesn't look like it will fit.

Any suggestions?

Could you post a pick of the windshield by itself so we can see the whole thing, including the white strip?

Thanks.

I had to trim mine a little on the outline as per the instructions, but it fits perfect...

You need to pull it back and put the bottom edge in the groove a head of the red trimon the nose and pull it over the two outside edged of the window frame...

See if this explains it better. I know i can match the bottom part of the windshield against the groove behind the red lines but the problem is that the top won't fit OVER and AROUND the leading edge.

Well i just talked to the Nitroplanes customer support. While on the phone, the CSR looked online at this thread and saw the problem. He's going to have a replacement windshield sent out to me.

These guys really do want to keep our business. My next plane will be the 140 size mustang and i am getting it from nitroplanes.

I wish they could send me a new front nose wheel pant !!!

I just mounted the Robart 654 nose strut...

all I can say is COOL !!!

There wasn't a lot of meat on the firewall to attach this to, but I moved the brace that gets screwed to the firewall down flush with the bottom of the fuse and she looks and works GREAT !!!

Can anybody show me pics on how they hooked up the elevator since I have heard NOT to use the supplied control rods?

That model looks great in the air, very good pics. I am thinking of the nose strut for my model. I too fly off an asphalt runway and this would be a nice addition to a great looking model.

I am also building a GP Fabric Cub ARF with the scale Robart gear, very neat stuff!!

Outstanding!

How did you do the lights?

Did you also put in the markers and rotating beacon?

Thanks Guys,

My lighting system is a "Curtek" lighting system, sadly they've gone out of business...

I'm having some issues with my port and starboard running lights...

The wires need to be plugged in just like the aileron and flap servo wires, the running light wires keep breaking at the plugs from all the plugging in and un plugging...

I'm trying to setup a system so I can have a small battery velcroed to the wing so I don't need to run the wires back to the fuse...

Looks like I have some soldering to do today...

I also still need to mount the stobe on the tip of the tail...

Sam

Please note:

If you build this plane:

Replace the Nose Strut...
Replace all the Servo connectors, don't use the EZ connectors inc in the kit...
Epoxy both wing halfs together...
Goto 2.5" Du-Bro Wheels...
Remove wheel pants for field or flying off grass...
