Hey, guys, i'm thinking about getting one tomorrow too (DP that is), anybody here have any experience w/a Saito 150 on that plane?
We've flown the Goldberg with a Webra 120-flew great! I like the looks of the bigger Ultimate, just curious about the Saito. Thanks all |

No kidding. Oh, well... I could always build the kit again. |

Well, I ordered it today, but DAM!, they were out of everything but white-and the nice lady on the phone said it would take 8 weeks to get a colored one.
Cant wait to get it next week. Still havent decided on the engine but I am leaning towards the 150 Saito. More as this story progresses. |

Check Chief Aircraft at www chiefaircraft dot com. They had the new Blue version in stock recently and they carry them at the same price as ordering direct, also with free shipping I believe. I had to order my Edge from them as DP had the first batch pre-sold, so they ended up having the plane drop shipped to me directly from DPM and I ended up getting it the day after it was released!

I was thinking Saito 150, but a 180 would pull it and then some!

About transporting the DP Ulty. I bought some great wing bags from Matt at Wingbags.com. That made it soooo much easier to safely transport my Ulty in my Laser turbo.... it is like a Mitts Eclipse. I can get the whole plane in AND shut the hatch! It definately took some creativity and desire to figure out how to do it. Now I am trying to figure out how to transport my H9 Taylorcraft.... should be even more challenging figuring out how to strap the 85 1/2 inch one piece wing in.... or on my car! Maybe a rooftop surfboard rack?....lol.... actually I already have it all figured out. Where there is a will there is a way.
I am telling you guys.... the DP 120 Ultimate is worth what ever you have to do to get one and what ever you have to do to get it to the field. Go with the DP... you won't be sorry. |

I wholeheartedly AGREE!

That makes good sense. I read in the article on their website that since the Saito exhaust comes out towards the rear, that the author had to notch and box the firewall-kinda makes me want to go with a YS140, since they exit on side.
DECISIONS,DECISIONS!!!!! Since my bird is coming all white-I found a cool "Coors Light" scheme on a Pitts that i'm gonna duplicate. Black and gold over white should look nice. |

i flew mine today great flyer that dp bipe!!!

The other engine that intersts me is the new YS 140 Sport. |

If you guys are trying to decide between a Saito and a YS..... go with the YS. The YS sport 140 is a great engine.... you don't have to go with a DZ. The YS is smoother, more powerful, uses less fuel, then the Saito 180.
kracyc..... I thought so.... I am just curious... what have you flown in any other size range you like better?? |

Once you get out of the 25% size most 30% + planes are going to be great. I did like the 35% Radiocraft EXtra that is one sweet machine. I enjoyed my sig cap 231 a lot and also the Sig Extra even though it would not 3d to small of a elevator. The DP can IMAC and 3d that is one sweet machine. I love my DP Extra DP claims its a 1/4 scale but i think not more like a 27% but it's great if i keep it on the 25% scale size. But that is still by the same person he he.....

Locomotive;
You got access to data (prop size-vs-rpm) for that YSE140? The 180 Saito is swinging an APC 16X8 at around 96-9800, which would give a 10.5 pound airplane EXTREME vertical I am not opposed to spending the cash, I want this plane to have the best of everything, and besides, you COULD throttle back:)! yea, right!!! |
Ultimate Biplane
FormerCA......
When I had my Saito 180 it would pull a 17x8 MA Scimitar at about 8500 very well.... going up to an 18x8 Scimitar killed it. The DZ will turn the 18x8 easily at 9000 plus. krayzc...... I agree with the Radiocraft... they are awesome.... other then that I like my DP Ulty the best so far. |

It is the YS 140 FZ Sport
Central Hobbies http://www.centralhobbies.com/Engine...40FZSport.html Would be a great choice! |
