Went flying yesterday. Just as I was about to hand launch I managed to poke the transmitter antenna into the spinning rotor disc. It was very windy and I was having trouble holding the plane, the lift was so great I could scarcely keep hold of it Antenna was ruined. Anybody else committted such a clumsy error?

Haven't done it with the rotor yet but I have cut the antenna off with the prop. Not my Xmtr either. I use rubber ducky antenna's on my equipment.
How are things over there in NZ...???

Hi Rick - Things are OK here in NZ but I am on my own when it comes to autogyros. However not complaining as my field for flying (the Christchurch Model Aero Club site) is only 15 minutes away with full time availability. Being an older retired person I can go out when it suits. I see I am a `Junior` member of this group, perhaps that is a good thing because I am `senior` in everything else, although admittedly a relative newcomer to autogyros.
I have soldered a replacement TX antenna to the stub of the broken one, works fine but cannot be telescoped down to less than a foot length. I have the idea of handlaunching my autogyros with the antenna down to this length & extend it after the handlaunch. Tried it out yesterday flying an ordinary fixed wing model, had full control at height of 300 feet or more with only the one foot of antenna, did not try it any further away.

Hi Folks
Thought you might like to hear this one, not related to gyros but its still pure r/c stupidity.
I also fly slope soarers from a hill near my home, a real steep slope you would think twice about climbing down. Anyway, this guy was running with his model to launch it and gave a HUGE throw...........problem was that he threw the tranny instead of the model. I swear this is true and I must confess I came close to expiring I laughed so much, especially as his model twitched with the first couple of bounces of the tranny. I don't know if he ever found what remained of his tranny afterward as no-one was in any fit condition to offer to help him without laughing.
Poor guy
