I just got the one from I4C...
When you apply a load to a pack the reading keeps slowly dropping..do you hold the button in until it stops completely?? I held the button in for a while and the reading just slowly continues to drop..
Thanks

No this is normal. Just hold it in for about 5 seconds to make sure it remains at that voltage and does not fall suddenly. It slowly lowers because you are drawing current from it and discharging it. It should go down very slowly, like hundreths of an amp every few seconds.

Redrum, that is normal as the battery is continuously discharging through the load resistor. Hold the button for a few seconds and take a reading. The rated loads (.5,1.0 and 1.5 A) are based on a 6V battery. So. if you're using a 4.8V battery, the actual load is slightly less than the rated.

Well I understand what voltages are safe to fly at I was basically asking how long I should be waiting to get a true reading..The voltage drops quickly at first and then slows down to 1/10 volt about every 10 seconds

so it drops 1 volt every 100 seconds. if battery starts out at 5.8 it is down to 4.8 after 1.5 minutes, and down to 3.8 aftr 3.0 minutes at .5 amp load . unless voltmeter is damaged you are getting a true reading all the time . voltage should be steady after 1 minute, probably much sooner.
