Hi Guys
I have a dx6i tx and would like to program the expo settings for the extra 300 into my radio, the expo's on low rate should be 40% for rudder, aileron and elevator. On high rate 77% aileron 55% rudder and 45% elevator.Won't the low rate settings be more sensetive on the control stick with less travel ?Sorry im a newbie .Regards.

I have been flying for 6 months,my first plane was a cessna 182 electric .The radio i bought with the cessna did not have functions to set dual rate and exponential settings.I upgraded my radio to a spektrum dx6i and bought a extra 300 which is a more areobatic andless forgiving plane,so using these setting will help mecontrol the plane until i can fly it with 100% d/rate and expo rate.As i understand dual rates itsthe percentagea control surface is allowed to move between 0-100 % of its total travel.Exponential rate is about the sensitivity around the neutral postion of the control stick,so if the expo rate is 70% willthe control stick will be far less sensitive than say 20 %? thanks for your input. regards

I believe positive expo softens the control, while negative tightens it. I may have it backwards too. I would have to dig out the manual, but I am sure it is explained in there too, so RTFM.

Just a note on expo; be carefull after 50%. Yes it is true the sticks will be more forgiving around center, but then the curve goes straight up at full through and becomes very twitchy. Expo does'nt change the total deflection of the control surfaces. It just delays full through to extremes of the stick movement. To add expo on a Spectrum use +; on Futaba radios you use - to add expo.

Some have a little plot that shows what the Expo is doing when you set it. Regardless, it should look like the sketch below. This is somewhat of an exaggeration of the shape, but the general idea is there. If the "bend" goes in the opposite direction, and if you fly it that way, please be prepared for some pretty radical performance.
