I have a quick question:
Can I take the geared drive off of my 400 sized electric motor. It is going to be reused from a soarstar to a smaller plane (called for a 380, but i didn't have one).
Also, would a 5x2.5 prop be too small. Is there any negative to a small prop on an electric (other than less performance)?
Thanks.

The motor will try to turn at it's KV rating. If the prop is "smaller", more than likely it will approach that RPM point better than a larger one. It won't exceed that RPM if that's what concerns you.
If the motor bolts on and the gears match, I can't see any downside to it.

compared to useing the 400 motor with no gear box, the 400 with a gear box will be much better
