Putting my first plane together which is the Dewoitine 1.20. Would standard do the same job as the ditigal servos? Second question, what are good servos at a good price.

personally, for that size plane, I feel that a standard, nylon geared servo is just fine. I doubt you plan on ripping the thing around like a 3D plane so My personal choice for a Warbird of that size would be my go-to servo the Hitec 311. I used to buy them by the truckload so I have lots laying around new-in-box. Other guys would recommend Futaba or maybe JR or Spektrum servos. My dad has used the Tower Hobbies brand servos and Hobbico servos in his similarly sized planes with plenty adequate results. Good luck with the assembly!

1.2 size plane is too big for standard (hitec 311). I would use Hitec 645 on the elevator and rudder and 2ea 485 on the ailerons, use the 311 for your throttle.

I disagree, the airplane is a warbird and when flown properly, a standard servo is fine. Isee guys doing aerobatics with 90" Cubs all the time on standard servos and they do fine. A bigger servo like you suggest won't hurt anything, but I don't feel it is an absolute necessity.

if you want good economical digitals you can get 4 5485s for about 75 shipped on ebay...tower sells em for 25 plus shipping you just gotta be on top of the auction

So putting a servo on a plane with 90" wingspan with only 42oz of torque is safe and responsible? Go to WWW..hitecrcd.com and look up the specs on the different servos. The hs635 with 69oz of torque is reommended for only planes up to 72" wingspan, which is about the size of 1.2 warbird. I've seen an 85" warbird where the buider used hitec standard servo on the elevator and it didn't complete 1 circuit before the servo failed and the plane crashed.The pilot/buider was a great flyer but was 16 years old; this is the difference between age and experience!

The OP didn't state what model Dewoitine he has. If it is a D.520 a standard servo is nothing I would use. If it is something like the Emile Dewoitine A standard may work just fine?? I wouldn't use standard but years ago a 48 in. lb. servo worked just fine on a lot of giant scale models. It's also when we started ganging servos together on control surfaces. If the OP went to a site like servo city he could look at better servos then standards and see the prices. We just have so many better choices then standard servos today. I personally use standards on trainers and there like. My other planes get the best I can afford.

I have the Dewoitine 1.20 70in wing span. The ones I'm looking at is the HS-5485HB digital servos. They are only 19.00 on ebay. Do you thinks this is a good choice of servos?

Yes they are pretty good. Dewoitine made several models of planes so 1.20 70 inch tells no one what model of Dewoitine you have. The two I mentioned are very different planes. The 520 was a WWII fighter. The other one I mentioned was a high wing mono plane, Parasol, designed in 1920. The D.27 The D.27 could be flown with standard servos but I wouldn't even try them in the 520. I wouldn't use standards in the D.27 either but it could be done. I like both planes and have given thought to building the D.27 at one time. Really ahead of it's time but had some problems. Very cool plane though and make a great model.

I think he has the one offered by Horizon.. Perhaps a Seagull models?

For the price the 5485's are a great servo. In fact they have been my "standard" servo for a couple years now. They would be fine for your use.
