Hi guys,
just got a new alpha 40 rft. ive had a pheonix simulator for some time which came with a dx5e radio. so basically i have 2 dx5e radios, and i was wondering can i buddy box these two radios together so that i can fly with a friend with some experience, ive seen on some other site that all i would need is a stero cable.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Justin,
Yes, it will buddy box just fine, all you need to get is the correct cord to do so. I have never put two DX5e boxes together, but there should not be the first issue.
Goose Bay, NL, it has been too many years since I've been there! I used to fly into the base to refuel on my way to Iceland when I was an USAF pilot. Beautiful country! I'm sure you might be asking about skis for the next winter season sometime soon!
All the best,
Steve

Yes, they should buddy box fine. The master will be powered on, and the slave powered off. Both need to have good batteries, and be sure both are trimmed the same and channel reverse is set the same.

our club uses the dx5/dx5 comdination, works fine, when seting up the trims, after trimming the plane out with the master and with the plane on the ground, not running, hold the trainer switch down on the master and watch for movement on the control sufaces, adjust the trims on the slave until you don't see any movement when engaing the slave box,

If you have the plane trimmed the way you want on the master transmitter, leave the sticks centered on both and push and release the trainer button on the master. If the control surfaces move, adjust the trims on the slave until the control surfaces don't move as you push and release the trainer button.
Otherwise, you could have whoever is flying on the slave box trim it out when the plane is under their control, but since the person on the buddy box is generally a new flier... Probably best to have it trimmed for them.
