Hey guys first post been reading for a while decided to join in the discussions. In advance Id like to thanks everyone for the help they provide on here its really helpful
. I had a question about some basic mods for the apperntice 15e. I finally got the power 15 motor which runs nice. Iwas thinking about getting the aluminium motor mount that supposably fits right to the firewall and works with the power 15 here is the link http://www.customrcparts.com/index.p...;products_id=6. Has anyone had experience with this mount? Does it pay to get there shaft they sell as well?I broke 2 of the plastic ones and they are out of stock till sept 2013 i figured Id give this a shot. I figured id get the alumnium spinner as well because the stock ones break very easily. Wasnt sure if this spinner needs the stock plastic piece i think called the collete not sure lol when installed? I appreciate the help so much thanks for any information. Here is the spinner link http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/De...rodID=EFLSP175</p>

Just consider the additional weight the aluminum adds over Plastic, otherwise adding some stronger parts up front never hurts. Bent a MM and busted two spinners myself. Just make sure to rebalance after adding the metal to the nose, you may need to add some to the tail. If you want some real mods, put a power 25 on the nose, it should take off vertical with that!
The P25 uses the same ESC I think, will need to check mine for sure, and the 3S 3300 mah packs. It wont fly as long, but it will scoot pretty good.

I guess I'm not too keen on the idea. It appears to me the stock mount was intentionally designed to be a weak point, so that it is likely to break and save the motor shaft, firewall or front if the fuse. The stock motor mount is inexpensive and easy to replace.
Replacement motor is expensive for the Apprentice, and has an odd bolt pattern. If I were going to replace a motor on one, I see there are adapters on e bay that will let you easily mount a variety of motors to the stock motor mount.

OK I have a 15e apprentice which I have flown for 3 years now and have made several modifications to and in the middle of another huge change however part of this change was to add larger more realistic wheels but they seam to be creating too much drag and it noses down and hits the prop so looking for ideas for stiffing and reinforcing the landing gear to prevent this flex while maintaining a stock realistic look any ideas ?

Landing gear flex is never the reason for nose overs. If new wheels are causing you to have noseovers on takeoff (I assume you've converted it to a taildragger?) the problem is with your wheel installation. Make sure they spin freely, and make sure they track straight. Too much toe in can cause noseovers even with freely spinning wheels.

The Apprentice is good for doing that. I tried using a larger nose wheel, helped get the prop out of the grass for taking off, but landings is where I would dig the nose in. The larger nose wheel would catch first, and bring the plane into the ground. I never did learn how to get a nice nose high flare on landing with it.
