A friend of mine found this aircraft on the trash about 70% intact. He put that ridiculous vert. stab and attempted to fly the following day. What do you guys think, did it fly or went looking for worms?

If you look carefully the elevator is covered in black and it almot blends with the ground. But yes, the horizontal stab is extremely small compared to the vertical stab. BTW, no ailerons either, just three channel operation here.

You can make almost anything fly. Personally, I would have made the horizontal bigger, put ailerons on it, made it a tail dragger and gotten rid of that doofy looking vert. stab.

It might fly under experienced thumbs, but I'm guessing not very well.
The vertical stab/rudder being large isn't that big a deal, but that tiny horizontal stab and small elevator will be a problem. Another problem will be the lack of dihedral in the wing. With rudder only, some decent dihedral is needed for good turns.

I say it flew, and i think the picture is deceiving, the vertical stab. is so large that it just appears the horizontal stab is small. compare the wing itself w/the horiz. stab and it seems to be in proportion.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,of course I could be wrong.

Yes it flew with no problems, very sensitive to rudder input though, a deflection of 10 deg was enough to make a tight turn. Otherwise it behave very mild even though there is no dihedral. The wing was high density foam and after using it as streamer towing aircraft for combat practice someone took a nice bite of the wing during a midair. He managed to land it in one piece but there was no way to fix the wing so he put a chopped eaglet 50 wing on it and gave it to his son.
PS, I just saw the biplane pic, that looks awesome! I see what you mean about the antenna on that pic, but if you look at the actual photograph its resting on top of the horizontal stab.
