ORIGINAL: northriver21

Take a look at the Hanger 9 Alpha trainer 60. 72" wingspan Evo .61 engine
I love mine
I have the 40 size version of this. If the 60 is anything like the 40, it'll be a VERY DURABLE plane... :-)

Check this one out.

Really flies nice and has a two piece, 96" wing.

The hobbistar 60 is still advertised it is just updated. I even saw a ad for it on rc universe about five minutes ago.

Hobbico Hobbistar 60 MKIII ARF. 70 inch wing span. Covered in monokote. I just ordered one for some relax flying and a buddie box for training. My four *40 and Great planes P-51 kit still make me a little nervous, especially after burying my Ultra sport 60 last week in the desert. Good luck.

Do you realize this thread was last responded to over 12 years ago? And it was started 14 years ago?

The Hobbistar is not covered in monokote. It is a covering from china. I know because I emailed hobbico and thats what they told me. But it is heat shrink film.

If you want to talk about 60 size planes a new thread would be a good idea. A lot has changed in the last 14 years.

Start a new thread and you will get lots of updated information. I have been here since 2010 and and not even heard of most of the posters in this thread. Hobbico wrote and said the hobbistar is covered with a covering from china but does not have a name on it. I am guessing it is the same stuff sold by Hobby King and Value Hobby. I have a Tower Trainer and I am sure it has the same covering on it. And you can repair it with MK and it can be shrunk if needed. Matter of fact it seems to need less touching up than monokote.

There is a guy at the flying field with a Hobbistar 60 with a 4 stroke engine on it. Its a nice flying plane. A new thread on 60 size planes would be great.
