Rubbing alcohol will be fine for the clean up. You could also go to the hardware and by the store brand of denatured alcohol. That's what I use. Keep the area ventilated what ever you use.
Some folks say thay windex with amonia would work well also, but you may need to go over a couple of times.

RE: denatured Alcohol
As everyone already said, you can clean up with regular alcohol. If you want denatured alcohol, you can get it at a paint store. If you are cleaning Monocote, acetone works really well and is also available at the paint store.

Denatured alcohol....
I had to hunt this stuff down (in Canada). People were most unhelpful/unknowledgable about it.
Eventually, after some research, and some luck, I found it. It is in Home Depot, and it is called "stove fuel". Find it alongside the paint thinners. 99.9% alcohol or so.
Rubbung alcohol seldom gets more than 80%, and the rest is water. If you want to thin epoxy, you really want the real stuff, and not the rubbinb stuff.
This is just a FYI fopr those people who are curious as to what denatured alcohol is, and where to get it.
Also FYI, it is denatured because there is an additive that makes it undrinkable (because it is really poisinous....)
Other names that denatured alcohol goes under is "methyl hydrate".

RE: denatured Alcohol
Always keep a small supply of denatured alcohol to thin epoxy when you use it as a fuel proofing medium. DA has lots of uses around the shop including cleaning Monokote before adding striping or decals.

RE: denatured Alcohol
Denatured alcohol is much less toxic than acetone or paint thinner. Drugstore alcohol gets into the 91-99% range, depending on the brand. Another hardware store name is "Denatured Alcohol Solvent."

"Methyl hydrate"
that's what my local 'home depot' has it as... as well, in teh paint section
Steer away from Acetone unless you really really need it. It'll eat plastics (like tose molded into things, like ABS plastics & toys) and has a really strong odour. Wouldn't be surprised if is somewhat casinogenic..

RE: denatured Alcohol
I thought that "denatured" alcohol was ethanol (i.e the drinkin' stuff) with a bit of methanol added to make it poisonous so that idiots don't start visiting the local drug store to get their cocktail supplies.
Methyl hydrate is methanol by another name.... I thought.
As an aside, that stuff at Home Depot that is labeled 99.9% pure - I wonder if that is accurate, and if we could add some oil and use it for glow fuel. If, indeed, it is methanol, and is 99.9% pure, I don't see why not.

RE: denatured Alcohol
Denatured alcohol is good to have around the shop. I buy it by the gallon and put it in a small dishwashing soap thing (Dawn) and leave it on my workbench. I use it to soak hinges in before gluing them, wiping sharpie pen marks off covering, etc. I also mix it in with my cleaning solution to wipe down my planes at the field.
Other good solvents to keep around (by the gallon)
Mineral Spirits and Lacquer thinner. I buy acetone by the quart because I don't use it as much. Also MEK is good, but is carcinogenic.

MEK is similar to acetone, but gel-like. Makes good debonder cause it sticks and doesn't evaporate as fast. Very bad for your health, though.

Mike - The MEK I have is not a gel. I've never seen that. Mine is thin as water. But yes, it causes cancer if you use it in California. Forunately I live in Florida.

Always test on scrap. Yes, MEK, Acetone and Lacquer thinner will remove most inks. Denatured alcohol will remove some inks. Just test on a spare to find out.

RE: denatured Alcohol
in california, 99% rubbing alcohol is readily available at any local drugstore. that's the best stuff. depending on what kind of oil you use, i would reccomend something different. if you use synthetic oil (as i do because i am four strokes only) baby wipes work great. if you use caster, rubbing alcohol and windshield washer fluid works great. the 99% stuff is the best all around. thins epoxy and evaporates quicker than water, leaving your cure time a lot less, and is a lot better at getting those marks off too because it os that mucn more potent. also, if you are flushing out your engine, it is a great thing to have. that way, you don't have to dry it, and by filling your fuel tank with that stuff, you can clean out your engine if your jets get plugged up

RE: denatured Alcohol
The term "alcohol" is very non-specific and can refer to a number of different compounds. There are 3 types of alcohol you're likely to see.
Methanol...the stuff in our airplane fuel, gas line antifeeze, alcohol stove fuel, fondue fuel. Also called methyl hydrate. Toxic...can often be found in the paint section as 99% pure.
Ethanol... the stuff you might drink. If sold for drinking purposes, is taxed beyond belief. If sold as a solvent, it is "denatured" by the addition of a trace amounts of various compounds such as benzene. This renders it almost impossible to drink and darned difficult to distill to a form suitable for drinking. Now taxed much less than the drinking version. Often sold in drugstores in various purities (70%, 95% etc) as "rubbing alcohol compound." Other than the trace impurities added to denature it, will contain some water.
Isopropanol...often found in drugstores as "rubbing alcohol". Can be anywhere from 70-99% pure... the rest usually being water. Toxic...not as bad as methanol, but still not good for you. May have to ask for it at the pharmacy counter as some people have found a use for it as a solvent in the production of illegal drugs and it had a tendancy to "walk" out of the store.

But they don't sell pure Methanol in my paint section....I wish.
Ethanol is typically denatured by mixing in Methanol. And typically not in trace amounts....usually 15% or so. Methanol is purposively put in to "denature" it. All versions of Ethanol including the stuff you buy in the paint section is made by distillation of grain products. They denature it so it will blind you unless you go to the other store and pay the tax...lol
And, I noticed someone early saying that Denatured alcohol is much less toxic than acetone or paint thinner. Hmm, drink some denatured alcohol and you probably will end up blind unless you get to the hospital within a few hours. Within a few hours, your probably only loose some of your sight. And, you'd be surprised at how much acetone is already in your milk and the water you drink. If you live with a woman in the house that paints her nails, your probably drinking even more of it. And, I've gone to some friends houses where the woman stores this stuff in the refrigerator. Acetone is highly volatile and is everywhere.
The entire purpose of "denaturing" is to make it poisionous.... Treat all of this stuff as very much poision.

at work now and this is right off my can of acetone, something i used often until i read it. I thought, Hey the same stuff my wife puts on her nails....no prob.
"May affect brain or nervous system causing dizziness, headache or nausea. Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupation overexposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage."
may explain dingy blondes with nice nails.
now I use it as little as possible and crank the fan!

CafeenMan,
Just curious... Is examining the labels on feminine hygiene products related to your job, or more of hobby?
(sorry, I couldn't resist that...)
