Default Sullivan High Torque Starter Dimensions

Hi All and Happy New Year!

I am building myself a flight box and plan to include a compartment for a Sullivan high torque starter. Problem is I haven't bought the starter yet so I don't know how big to make the compartment. Spent the last hour searching the web for the dimensions but just can't find them[&o] Can someone please measure their starter and tell me the dimensions.

Thanks

Rhino

Which sullivan starter? ARe you talking about the Dynatron? Mine is set up on pullys and 24Volts for cranking the REAL BIG engines so the dimensions would be off.

I'm thinking of using the "Deluxe High-Torque Starter" (see http://www.sullivanproducts.com/StartersContent.htm). I will be using the starter with the basic aluminium drive cone - no pulleys etc. The Sullivan web page lists the motors as having a 2.5" diameter body so I assume the width is 2.5" but it doesn't list the height (of the big plastic end cap) or the length (end cap to end cap and also total length including starter cone). I am also interested in the same dimensions for the Dynatron.

Can anyone spare a minute to measure theirs?

Hi RH1NO:

I can help you there. I have an older Sullivan Hi-Torqe starter. The Handguard/front plate is 3" across and 3 3/4 " high and 7 1/2" in length. That is with a Sullivan replacement starter cup in it. I got a white one which is grippyer than the stock one. It is also set up for prop nuts which I use mostly. I hope this helps you out.

PS: the motor housing is 2 1/2" in diameter.
