Default DC power supply for Triton charger?

Hello,

I'm a newbie to RC planes and on the advice of a friend/experienced flier, I purchased a Triton charger. In addition to charging batteries at the park, I was wanting to be able to use it at home also. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on using a DC power supply, what AMP rating is needed and where I might purchase one online? Radio Shack carries them, but they are a little pricey. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Ronnie

What exactly you want to supply with the charger?

Don't waste your money on a Power Supply. Get a Computer Power Supply for $10, and do the conversion. It is extremely simple and costs around $5...Heck, I would even do it for you if you would pay for materials and shipping...

Anyone have an online link to the instructions for the do-it-yourself conversion? I lost the magazine that had it in there.

If you are going to go messing around in a PC power supply, make sure you understand the risks. These babies can hold a deadly charge for long periods of time after having been shut-off. Proceed with caution!

That's what a good screwdriver is for

Just kidding, really. I'd never admit to grounding out high voltage capacitors with a screwdriver. Really.

We have several PC power supply rechargers that members of our club use. I have mine, but it is yet to be built. I will even build a small case to put the supply in. My neighbor took it one step furtherl, he took his field charger apart, drilled some holes on the back, mounted a PC cooling fan so that the heat is drawn out of the charger, then added another fan to draw hot air out of the box with the power supply. We have 110v service at our field so it is convenient to use these. I have also been told that you need to add something to reduce the overal power. (I am not a real electronics person here, but I think it is some resistors on certain circuits or something like that.) My neighbor has agreed to set it up for me anyway and I will learn it then.
