Hey guys I read about people flying 6-7 flights battery gets low they get scared , leave go home or recharge with a (1Hour) QUICKcharger? why not just get an extra RX battery as a backup to fly more? I don't have a club but i have an old ultralight runway place I fly at 3 minutes from my house. sot it'a not a real problem but if I wanna fly with soem other guys I don't wanna have to leave for an hour.

Most of the guys in my club have a field charger and it will recharge the RX and TX packs in about 15 minutes. I don't have one myself but usually 3 or 4 flights is enough for me. I like the socializing at the field just as much as the flying. I think I will get a field charger though in case I do happen to want to fly a lot on a particular day.
Sounds like a great plan to have another RX pack charged up and ready to swap in. The only problem I can see is that most of my battery packs are buried so deep in my planes that it would be a real chore to get one out and back in.
You're pretty lucky to have a field that close! I have to drive 30 minutes!

Also bear in mind that some of us are married. After seven flights we start to feel a slight tug on that leash.[:@] Telepathicaly we start hearing voices telling us to "come home, come home".[
] Low battery power is just a good excuse for us married guys to say we have to leave and not get ragged on by the single guys.
I would love to be able to spend all day at the field, most of us dont have that luxury.
But good idea to have an extra battery pack charged up and ready to go. Let just hope its easy to get to, as most are not.
Happy flying,
Sean

Hahaha...Makes me start to wonder how much power i have left in my flight pack..As i've only been flying for about 6-7 weeks and on a day at the feild ill use up to 1.5 litres of fuel in my kyosho calmato with an os 46 fx and i only have a 600mah pack that comes standard with the JR radios... Might have to get a volt checker....

Exactly. You don't need a voltmeter, just fly it until it let's you know it needs recharging. (Maybe there'll be enough left of the pack to charge.

I used to fly all day without a checker. Not a good idea. Was in a thermal, dotted out, and things started getting slow. Had enough power left to give down elevator. Man, there wasn't enough of that one left to charge.

From: gone,
Then there's the begnner who flew 4 times (20 min per flight) and we advised him to check tha batteries before taking off again... he didn't. Beautiful takeoff... never saw the plane again. (landed in the lake)

Man, I know that feeling sometimes. Not that I mind it though. I've actually gone to the field on some nights and not taken any of my own planes, but still flew pretty much non-stop.
Most of my battery packs are too hard to get to, so just replacing them is a pain. It's easier to just plug a charge cord in to the side of the plane and let it top off while I re-fuel and BS a little.
How long your pack lasts depends a lot on how you fly, and how long you fly. I'm only getting about 1hr of actual air time on a charge with my Cap, but the flying isn't exactly sedate either. I also reach for the charge cord when my pack reads 4.8 or less. Some guys will fly on lower, but since I have the field charger, it's just easier to not worry about it.

I check my battery level after each flight. I started doing this when a battery went bad in my 4*60. I had done pre-flight range check, fueled the plane, and then sat and b.s'd for a while. For some reason, I forgot I had checked the battery and did it again. It registered 3.4 volts. Saved a plane with that one. Better 3-4 flights than 6 1/2.
