oK, I hace read a million threads on what would be a good second plane, but most of them relate to 40 size planes. So the question is, what would you guys recommend for a 60 size second plane? I think a 60 size plane would be easier for me to see in the air and I have heard that they fly better. Also why dont more people fly 60 size planes. It seems that if they are so much better, people wqould rather have a 60 than a 40.

Try a Sig 4*60 the four star is a great second plane that is very easy to fly. Put a 75 size 2 stroke engine or a 91 size 4 stroke on it and it will have great vertical performance. Here are some pictures of my two 4*'s. The yellow and red one now has red stripes on the wings.

I dont think look that bad, maybe I'm bias. The fuse is just boxy. This plane has been a very easy build. Clean die-cuts and superb lazering. The dry fitting was perfect. 1/2 threw build, yet to maiden her.

t8,
I think the primary reason more people don't fly 60 size planes is that there just aren't as many available. There are far more choices in 40 size, especially in trainers and second planes. So if you start with a 40 size trainer, you're much more likely to look for a second plane that uses the same engine.
I agree with either a Super Sportster or a Four Star 60.

I second this Big Stick 60... And any stick for that reason... A flat wing may be desired if you want to do more precise aerobatics (only a few degrees of dihedral in the GP sticks) but if you play around with the CG you can do just about anything with a stick!

Either the Tiger 60 or the BTE Venturew 60. Both are great planes. The 4*60 isn't too bad either but the Venture is a more refined version of it. My opinion, a stick is more of a fun fly type plane and ugly. The ones as listed above are more for faster sport flying and look like real planes.[8D]

I am in the same boat (of looking for a second plane - although Im confused as to whether to get a 40 or a 60). I had decided on the four star 60 but then along came the SPAD forum! Someone posted excellent instructions on how to make a SPAD four star lookalike called the cor-star 60! Would this be a good alternative to buying the balsa kit? Please check out the pictures before you slate it by the way - it is a good looking plane!

I got a H9 Ultra Stick 60 for my Second plane. I love the way it flies and it will do anything you ask of it. With the flaps it lands slower than my trainer did, and with the high rates on it will pull about any maneuver I have tried. Great Plane in my opinion.

I bought a H9 Ultra Stick 60. Great second plane. I also just finished a Venture 60, which got a ton of comments at the field. It's a sleeker, more refined 4*60. Nicer looking...

Another vote for the 4* 60. Or, if you are up to the challenge, the [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/Cor%2DStar_60_Version_2%250_plans_and_pics/m_1201120/tm.htm]Cor-Star 60[/link]

The Great planes Super Sporster is better. The don't make them any more maybe E bay has one.

What do you mean they don't make them any more. Here it is. It will fly circles around the 4* many many times. One of the nicest 60 size low wing birds flying in its class. There are some better flying pattern birds, but your not ready for that. This is the plane to get.
Second choice, stik 60 and build the wing flat, no dihedral!
