Default Alpha 60 by H9 :)

Test flew the Alpha 60 yesterday a couple of times - say that is ONE NICE flying bird! Engine started with 6th flip, flew almost hands off and landed very smoothly. Something to consider if you are looking for a complete package!

Thanks for the mini review.

I got one coming in the mail right now, should be here any day.
I have the Alpha 40, and like it so much I couldnt help but try its big bro.

I really wanted the Evo .61 for later planes.

Say, did you notice anything about the prop being too big for the plane?

5spot had his instructor fly his the other day, and he commented on how the prop was too big and had to downsize it.
I was just wondering what you thought about that?

I have an Alpha 60 also
Did you have to trim it out much?
Mine needed some adjustments
Glad to hear you like it
I hope to fly mine soon as the weather breaks
It seems as if it's always windy or raining around here.
My luck - today it's Windy and Raining!!

Congratulations on the good report on the Alpha 60,mine flew just great and no trimming so far but the wind.........I'm thinking the wind he was flying in might be the problem with the prop,it was like hurricane weather,i've gotten another prop,11X4 and gonna check it out as soon as the wind is low.I couldn't wait so i started it on my lawn this morning just so the ol (wife) could hear it,or was it me cuz i couldn't wait ?,and no i didnt have the wing on so no chance of it flying.
Then we went to town for some spare parts, just in case.

Prop selection was great in my opinion - kept the speed down to a reasonable amount. My plane did want to lean to the right when 'hands off' the tx. but some rudder and aileron trim solved that.

The biggest 'complaint' was that the nose gear was slightly off center and made for the need of some left rudder on take-off. By slowly bringing up the power, it flew itself off the runway!

Aileron rolls were VERY slow, but when coupled with rudder/elevator, some axle rolls were common - no spins, it would only spiral - and stalls were straight ahead.

On landings, I kept the nose wheel off the ground almost 1/2 the runway length - metal main gear is an improvement from the wire gear of the Alpha 40.

Jerry, I did a review of the Evo trainer power system last summer (.45), and I was thoroughly impressed with it. How did you like the Evo 60? I'm curious to know if it is as good.

BTW, I hope to see you in Toledo again!

I felt the .61 was even better than the "40-ish" that was on the other plane! Both ran smoothly, but the .61 idled MUCH better, better transition (and remember I didn't touch a thing) and seemed relatively powerful. It isn't a screamer but then again, it is on a trainer!

If I was buying a .61 today, I'd have a hard time NOT picking one of these up.
