Pic looks good. (I hope the inside repair job looks as good...)

I have bolted a .049 on the nose of one of the foamies... had to chop the nse off flush, and epoxy on a 1/8 inch ply firewall. The .049 was a bit much... and had no throttle. That was a wild ride! .020 would be a bit light... I doubt the thing would climb at all. (I have one... should I try it? I just bought 2 of the new "Virtually indestructable" {maybe} foamies... new type of styro.)

Put it back together and go fly, Don't worry about it.
You have learned. Find a local instructor and enjoy your new hobby.

Won't be indestructable without the wood bracing as I described, but I applaud the fact that an expert "conventional builder" is game to have a go. ( most just scoff).

My initial reason for the suggestion was to stop people moaning about the cost of learning, (took a while for acknowlegement) but I have realised that the moaning is really only bragging about their disposable income and the amount of leisure time at their disposal!

Flyin_High, do yourself favor and get some help. Meanwhile, you did a nice job on the repair from what can be seen in the picture. Be sure and check the balance on the plane again. Make sure it balances at the recommended CG. An unbalanced plane will be hard to trim, and hard to fly. Good luck.

It will take me much, much, longer this way. I am, indeed, missing the fellowship provided by flight clubs, but until I find one, I am learning & even the "slow way" is better than "no way".

Cheers
Bob, where are you in FL related to a town we would know. There has to be a club close. They are everywhere. I thought there was none where I went to flight school in FL and found out there was a club that flew less than a mile from the road I was flying on. The reason it was hard to find was it was kind of a "private" club. I was invited to fly there one time and everyone was really standoffish, till I flew, then they were hovering around asking "whats this" and "how did you do that" and "can you teach me how to do that". Clubs are funny. It is always interesting though.

I found a club.

Lynn haven, is right next door to Panama City.

I'm military retired & have lived, from, Florida to Washington State, California to New Hampshire & more than a "few" in between. Each area is different, in many ways, especially, culturally. I've learned to be respect & accept the "ways", without criticism. Different means "different", nothing more, nothing less.

I think you can relate, somewhat, to that sentiment.

I will continue to visit the airfield on low traffic days, as a spectator, & see what happens. My experience, so, far, has been very positive.

Thank you for showing an interest.

Hope it works out for you. Clubs can offer a lot of fun. Always more intereting to fly with friends, and some of my best friends have come from the modeling club.
