Default Radio Setup

I am confused about how to set up the radio for dual aileron servos. I want to be able to utilize my ailerons for flaperons. I am using JR equipment. I have a X-378 7-channel TX and a 6 channel reciever. Should I plug the left aileron in channel 2 and the right aileron in channel 5 (aux)? How do I program the TX?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Read the instruction manual.... If you don't have one go to horizon's web site and see if its available for down load...

Don't trust your airplane to just the answers that you will get here.

Thanks Crashem.
I have read the manual more times than I can count and I am just not grasping it. I can't figure out how to let the TX know that the right aileron is plugged into channel 5.

If it's a computer radio it will have a "Flaperon" function. If it's not a computer radio, you can't do it.

I'll take a stab. You want one servo in ch2. The other in 5 or 6, whichever your radio is using for flaps (6 is usually for flaps on most radio's that I have seen). Then look for the flaperon mix in the programming. Try engaging it. It should enable the second servo. If not try mixing 2&6. Use 2 as the master and 6 as the slave. This may need to be done ( I do not have JR equipment, am not entirely sure). Look in the manual for flaperons. It should have it's own preset mix. As I recall your JR is a decent computer radio. And the mix is in there somewhere. You just may need to hunt some. I hope I gave you a few places to look.

Thanks phread59!!
I will try the mixing of channel 2 and 5 (which is aux 1). The battery goes into channel 6.

Mattag
On JR you need to plug the Right aileron into the ail slot (ch2) and the Left aileron into aux2 (ch6). Then go to your Wing Selection page and turn ON or select the Flaperon Mix.

When you set up the servos for direction, end points, and centers you need to do each servo separately. The dual rates, expo, and mixes will apply to both.

Hope this helps

If you're Tx needs channel 6 for left aileron (flaperons) and you only have a 6 channel receiver, just plug the battery into any Rx slot that is available. If channel 5 is not being used, plug the battery into that slot and let your Tx function like it was meant to for flaperons, no custom mixing necessary.

I have set the radio for flaperon type wing and turned on the flaperon function. I have one aile plugged into ch 2 and the other plugged into ch 6. The servo plugged into ch 6 doesn't move unless I flip the gear switch. How do I make it work with the other aile and not with the gear switch?

On JR X-378 you must be in AIL channel for the left aileron and AUX1 channel for the right wing

Then with the radio off, hold the "channel" and "down" buttons and turn on the radio which will put the radio into system mode. Use the up or down keys to get to the "wing" section that will show in the upper left corner. Now use the plus or minus keys to get to "FLPER" which is flaperon mode.

Now move the sticks to be sure the ailerons move. If they both move in the same direction you will need to reverse either one of the channels, the aileron channels is probably the better and easier of the 2 to change. Once you have that then just exit the wing menu and turn the radio off then back on and test it.
