My Kadet 40 LT w/ OS 46AX. 25mph with gusts to 30. Elk City Oklahoma. VTOL take-off. 3/4 throttle and down elevator to land. Like Twister said, In Okla, if ya dont fly in windy conditions, ya dont fly much.

Just an update I was flying today in 20mph winds and the funny thing is it wasnt hard to do at all. I couldn't use the rudder alone to fly but I pulled off some loops, rolls, and inverted flight . So I will just have to meet my wind match one day unexpectedly....Until then .........

If the birds are walking, it's time to pack up and go home.

I fly in some pretty strong winds. Have to cos it's hardly ever nil wind here. I usually find that is the wind goes up it just becomes less fun rather than too difficult.
I suggest that you not be afraid of wind. There are lots of people at my club that are scared to fly in anything over 15mph.
Flying in wind makes you a better pilot.

most was 40 mph +steady ( hurricaine) gusts are much harder. most trainers become difficult over 10-12 mph.still not as scarry as night flying. recommend you try chem lights for night flying.the more the better. you need all the visibility you can get. also DO NOT try it during full moon.

We have a steady gulf breeze most of the year here. Averages 15-20kts. Just something you learn to live with. I have different planes I like to fly under different conditions.

We once had a fun fly on a day where the weather service was reporting 42 to 45 mph gusts and a home made wind speed gauge was showing over 50 at the field. 14 of us flew 3 events, and nobody crashed. My plane was the smallest, a 49" span flat bottom winged 15 powered scratch built job. Would sometimes fly backward at full throttle.

I have noticed too that many .25 sizes fly better in wind than larger .40 size & up. must be wing loading /area config. seen enough to convince me.

We started a cross country and it was calm when we got to the destination you could not land you would hover or crash what ever you had the skill to do. In excess of 40mph and we flew 105 miles, one way. What a blast!!!!!
