Hi all, I am about to get into SSC combat and am looking for a good .15 size engine. what I have in return is a Tango .15 ARF with only 5 flights. On the 5th and final flight it dead sticked in a stall turn and hit at a 45 degree angle which broke it in half. As you can see I put it back together but in mid-stream I lost interest in the plane. If anyone wants it I can deliver it for free to Houston,Dallas,San Antonio or Baton Rouge. All you have to do is go to one of our offices in that town to pick it up. I will include all the hardware that came with the plane.

i am afraid that this thread is turning into a place to look for free parts rather than a place to pass on un-needed equipment to people who can not afford their own...

As the creator of this thread I feel the need to remind everyone that this was not intended for trading of parts, asking for parts for sale or anything like that RCU has a marketplace for that activity, pleae use it. It's free...
This thread was created and has served very well for getting people started in the hobby that just do not have the funds but a very strong desire and a verifiable reason why they cannot afford it. There are many other things that this thread can do but asking for parts because you want to do something else but obviously can afford it is not the purpose here.
Als, If you receive something from this thread the main rule is you return the favor to someone else. This is completely on the honor system and in most cases has worked well.
I am sorry to those of you who have given so much to this thread and to those of you who have received from this thread and did "Pay it Forward"
This is a quote from the very first post I did
Since the movie was Pay it forward and that has basically become the theme of the Freebie thing Razor started, lets use this thread for that purpose.
I would like to suggest that the link to this thread be passed on so this thing can do what it's designed for and that is to get as many people involved as possible
The only rule is that you need to give back to someone that has a need or flat out just needs help in the hobby. If getting some of these free items helps you get a trainer completed so you can train newbies, are a newbie (young and not so young) that really needs things that they cannot afford, etc...
Please do not ask the person that is offering an item or items for them if it just because you want it and don't have it yet. Please let the person doing the offering decide what, and how and who and do not flame, trash, or otherwise downplay their generosity. If you ask for something please follow through. Use "PM" to talk in private about any deal for something that is being offered.
The person that is giving an item has the sole discression as to who gets it. There is no "panel" or "group" that makes that decision
Here is a suggested way to handle this but it is not "set in stone" or is the "required way". Good judgement is the key.
If you are looking for an item, place a post asking if anyone has it
If you have the item and wish to give it to the person asking, then PM the person, get a conversation going and then make the decision yourself if or if not you feel the person deserves the item.
If you have an item or items you wish to give away:
Place a post of the item(s) and be as thorough as you can about the item
If you see an item that has been posted and wish to acquire it, then PM the person that is giving it away and get a conversation going.
I wish to make it well known that RC Universe (RCU) has graciously allowed this post to be pinned permanetly to the top of the beginners thread and I thank them along with the excellent start that Razor did with him giving away the first item in another thread, thank you very much Razor, well done and way too coo!!!!

Please try the marketplace for this. It might work better since this is an obvious trade and not a giveaway with the intention to make someone elses entry into the hobby easier which is what this thread is all about...

I apologise for that post. I just misunderstood the forum topic. I withdraw the engine request, but the plane is still available. I will even finish the rebuild. No one at my club wants it and it is just taking up space. If I get no takers then it goes in the trash.

acam37,
If you can ship it to me I'll do the repair on the plane and then keep it for future PIF use. I would consider it a great contribution to the PIF. I'd rather do that than see it wind up in the trash

Acam,
No problem at all. No big deal. I'm just trying to keep the post where it's intended that's all. If anyting comes of the plane please repost the results. We all like hearing of the good things that come from this thread...
Ken has a great idea, I'll cover the shipping...

Bill,
Several months back you sent me an OS .46 for my Sig Senior that I am building with my kids. The generosity and compassion of the people on this site is amazing.
I wanted to post a short update, so here goes.
The Senior is coming along slowly but surely. With Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, Church and Vacation Bible School using all the time I'm not at work, I have only built up the sides of the fuse so far. My wife keeps telling me to just give up and fix my RC truck but I am determined to get my kids flying.
On that note I loaned the .46 to a friend to put in his Avistar, so he could teach his girls to fly. That went great! They are working on a Skybolt now. He brought the Avistar over to let my kids try it out and they had a blast. Being the "Super Dad" that I am, I took it for a few laps around the pattern. It did not end well. The kids did superb, a little nervous but otherwise great. I lost the plane in the sun and by the time I found it again, we were headed for a high speed impact with the soccer field. The front section of the fuse is gone and the wing broke in half but every thing else is fine. I was able to slam the throttle shut just before impact. I put it on a test stand and everything runs smooth.
Now when we go for a bike ride the kids all want to go to the park "Where Daddy crashed"
Just wanted to let you know I am still plodding away on my dreams of flying with my kids.
Thanks again Bill for all you do.

If I ever come visit you, Can I park "Where Daddy crashed" Sorry I had too
That's just too cute [sm=thumbup.gif]Oh and BTW, you are very welcome. That's a tough engine and ran flawlessly when I had it. Fuel it, start it, fly it. that's all it ever needed.
Got pics of the build by chance?

I will try to get some pics to post when I get home tonight.
I have to move a bunch of stuff in my basement everytime I want to work because along with it being a playroom for the kids, they have converted part of it into a mini-skatepark. It's a good thing I am building it on a foam board. It's easier to move around.

the os .46 engines are really tough, especially the FX line. my FX has seen two crashes already and not a broken part yet.
#513
the only damage to mine was the remote needle bracket broke off. I will have to get another one before I mount the engine on my Senior, but it runs smooth on the test cell.
#515
this one is metal and actually bolts to the rear crankcase cover of the engine. I may just mount it somewhere else. I will have to wait and see I guess.

HEY PIF, let me start by saying today was a great day for flying the ole LT-40. My first flight was great I had a very very good take off with a slow rise to just above the tree tops I made a nice slow banked left turn and flew a pattern around the field about 6 or 8 times then made a slow left to lined up on approach and made a perfect landing right down the center of the runway no bounce or anything taxied down the runway, turned around brought the plane up to me and killed the engine. On the second flight the take off was again very very good up just above the trees slow left turn, brought the LT back up the side of the runway and about 40 yards past me the ole Saito 56 quit but I managed another good landing on the runway, I walk down and brought the LT back. The third flight is where it gets interesting. Again the take off was nice slow climb to just above the tree tops, made about 5 laps and decided to do a low pass and as the LT got closer I realized it was coming straight at me and I paniced and started to walk backwards (I've been told I can't walk and chew gum at the same time) well while I was backing up I must have give it down elevator because I nose dived into the ground.

That's not the the only LT that bit the dirt today my Uncle Ed had an LT just like mine, same engine and everything ,and his tail came off and destroyed his plane also. I think both of our engines are ok, I'll check them in a couple of days
to see. Here's some pics.
NOW I HAVE A QUESTION, IS THERE SOME KIND OF CLUB THAT HE AND I GET TO JOIN LIKE A CRASH CLUB?

OH AND SOMETING ELSE I RECIEVED A CHECK FROM SSI FOR ALITTLE OVER $14000.00 A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. WOULD IT BE CONSIDERED PAYING IT FORWARD IF I BUY HIM A NEW LT-40? BECAUSE THATS WHAT I'M GOING TO DO. Thank you,Mike
PS This was a PIF airplane

Mike,
I ma sorry to hear that. There ought to be a crash club but we do have a crash forum here on RCU. If you go over there I have a post there from a Cap232 I destroyed Sunday
My thread is here

the forum starts here

Yes, buying Ed another LT-40 would definitely be considered paying it forward in my book and a really nice gesture to boot
[sm=thumbup.gif]. Just about anything counts that is RC related. BTW...Don't worry about the crash, it happens even to those of us that fly allot as you'll see in my thread.

hi, i read the first page and then jump to the last page, because it was wayy tooo long. i'm 15 and being in RC for 3 years, i am not operating a JR XP8103 and i got my dad started last summer, he can fly around now i just got to get him to land. i don't have enough money to buy another trainer for him ( he crashed my last trainer ) i'm now flying 3D w/ my Funtana 40, but the money i saved up for that was wayy tooo long, took me about a whole year, but i finally got the Funtana the day that summer starts. i got an extra 40 fox engine and some standard servos...
i was wondering if anyone here would donate a JR tx and rx? 4 channels would be GREAT!!
as for the trainer airplane itself i will save up some money for that. the reason i want my dad to start in RC plane it's because it's fun and everytime i give him that buddy box i can see he wants to take it but hesitate and try not to smile. i want him to fly so we can split the cost and he don't have to wait in the car the whole day for me to finish my flying.
he doesn't go out and chat w/ other people because were asian and he knows little English. so any one here would be willing to donate a JR tx and a rx, it would be GREAT! thanks for your time, and sorry about the long post

Bubbagates,
I tried to help out cantw8tofly with a carb but had no joy!. It turns out his carb had a O.D. of .393" and all of mine had sizes that were .510" or larger without enough material to cut down to the required size. I do have two of the carbs he needs: 1 OS Type 2A and 1 OS Type 3A but they are both on running motors. If he can find a carb off of a OS FP.15 thru .40 he's set. I don't even have the needles for those things anymore.

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to this website. I'm also new to model r/c planes. I bought a trainer from a friend two years ago and due to a reciever problem crashed it 10 seconds into the first flight. I bought a Corsair kit right after that and have been stuck unable to afford to by the required .46 engine due to having a new baby last October. Was hoping to get into this hobby but finding it hard to afford[
]
BTW, acam37, I noticed you have an S-3 Viking as your profile pic. I used to work on them at NAS North Island in San Diego. Excellent aircraft.
