I recently bought new servos and a new receiver in a kit and expected to simpily place the old crystal into the new receiver and let the servos work. i discovered that the servos will not move after the crystal is re-located. the crystal of the rx and the tx are the same (channel 42) and it did work with the other receiver. the new receiver and the old one are the exact same and i cannot figure out what is wrong. can anyone help me??/?

HI
What brand receiver are you using, old/new. Is it possible the new receiver is not designed for your transmitter? There are positive and negative shift receivers.

You don't mention radio type, if it's a computer radio have you changed to another model? If so make sure you're still transmitting PPM, and not PCM.
Is the battery fully charged? You mention a kit, I assume a flight pack?
Try and connect the battery directly to the receiver without using the switch harness, see if that cures it.
Try and remove and re-seat the crystal. It could be possible you got a bad crystal, unlikely, but possible.
If all else fails, ensure your transmiter is still working with your old radio....
And last possibility is you got a bad receiver, take it back to store.
HTH..

what do you mean by reseat the crystal just move it and put it back? the radio is a T4VF futaba, it is not computerized, and when i use the switch harness and click it on the servo moves a little then there is no response. its ticking me off!

Hi
Futaba receivers come in two flavors. One for high frequencies and one for low. I believe the cutoff is at channel 35. If I remember the high frequency receivers have a red dot on the pc board, where you can see it without removing the case.
If you have a receiver that is set up for the low frequencies and have a channel 42 crystal in it I guess it could result in the receiver not working.

I would use as much equipment from the working receiver as possible. Connect the battery from the working receiver directly to the new reciever (to eliminate the switch). Double check that you are using a high-band futaba receiver (check your invoice, ask at a hobby shop, etc..) Just out of curiosity, where did you get the receiver?
If you use a known good battery, a known good crystal, and a known good servo - and it still doesn't work, it has to be a bad receiver...
Let us know what you find out...

Beginning to think you have a bad receiver. Doesn't happen often but it can, in electronics infant mortality is the most prevelant form of failure.

i have the crystals that came with the transmitter originally, my first package came with the plane and engine and remote all factory installed, i crashed it and the old receiver is not in working condition, it shattered, i believe that the crystal may be damaged because the receiver shattered. i have two 3 day charged batteries running the receiver and there is no response, i guess my best guess now is that the crystals are damaged, what do you think? could this be it....i need new a new crystal set.

When ever you buy a new reciver always get a new crystal with it. When ever you crash a model and it brakes the reciver case the crystal will be no good! (stuffed). I may not show up straight away but as you found ot they WILL fail.
Cheers,

Ya know, I drove myself nuts one time with the same problem. Turns out that I wasn't getting the crystal in the holes right. It felt like I was, and it stayed in, but I wasn't lined up right, and it wasn't even going in the sockets. The way the RX case was designed, the socket holes are 1/2 inch or so inside the case. It's kind of hard to hold the crystal with adult fingers, and get it to slip in just right.
