I am looking for a good second plane. I don't want a taildragger. I would rather have something with the same type gear as a trainer. As our field and my landings are really rough.. Was thinking about a world models ultra stunts. I want to stay in the 46 range or size of planes as I have a os50 I want to use on it.

also you can look for planes with foam and balsa type of wings, they are good in windy conditions since they are heavy, although they fly good in all general conditions; go to the higher engine recomended and use the higher pitch prop in the manual

Take a look at a tiger 2 ARF. It flies good in just about any wind, its a low wing with trike landing gear, and it flies real well with a 50 motor. I just put a 46fx in mine and it does everything that I wont to do. On windy days we play kite and other times we just chase each other with follow the leader to gain better control in tight moves

I can tell you this from experience that the world model super stunt 40 would be your perfect choice. I have its big brother the SS 60 which was my second plane, and it flies like a kite. Landings are something to behold. they land so smoothly.

My vote is for the Easy Sport. We have a lot of crosswinds at our field that can cause me real problems, but the Easy Sport handles great in a crosswind, especially compared against my 40 size trainer. Also plenty maneuverable while still being stable and forgiving.

For my second plane I used a World Models T-34. It flys great, and handles wind quite well. I flew that for about 6 months before I switched over to a taildragger. I would go with that plane.
However, if you wanted to move up to a .60 size, I would go with a superstick. I'm not sure who makes it, but if you want to check it out, I'll look it up. This plane was made for wind. It can handle anything in the 20s range and everything below. The main thing that you want to worry about w/ any plane is gusts though.
I would recommend either of these planes.
Good luck,

A stick would be great, you can keep it mellow till you are use to it and then turn up the throws and move the CG back and you have a very areobatic plane that will grow with ya.

Any sport plane with a symmetrical wing and little or no diehedral will do good in the wind. A shoulder wing would be a little easier to handle, but if you are very adept with your trainer a low wing should be OK. See if someone at your field will let you buddy box on their plane.

I fly at a rough grass field and after I got into taildraggers I won't go back!! I don't have to worry about a nose wheel always getting wrenched out of position or bent. Talk to flyers at your field that fly both and they can tell you how it works for your field. I hit a gopher hole with one of the wheels on takeoff with my Hawker Sea Fury. The plane just bounced a bit on that one side and kept on going. If that was a nose wheel, it would have flipped the plane over!

I recommend the World Models Super Stunts 40. It looks big, is a high winger and has a trike gear. It flies in the wind and is easy as a trainer but will do basic stunts very well. The price is right. I do agree the nose gear is a pain and made a second 40 Stunts into a tail dragger. After getting out of a trainer I learned a lot from flying the heck out of this plane.

Clutchcargo,
I have the big brother SS60 to the SS40, can you please tell me how and or what method you used to convert the nose to a tail wheel.
I would of sent this to you via privet message but I did not see that option on your bar.
Thanks
