Yes, I got that OS50 SX. After the money off discount from Tower, it was only an additional $20, so I could not see a reason not to do it. I am going to have to mount it inverted though and this will be the first motor I have mounted that way. I am a little intimidated by that so I am hoping it is an engine that likes that mounting style.
I fly at the same field as Dick Hanson and I am hoping that I can get either him or one of the other team pilots to take on my little plane for it's maiden.
I just got handed a new assignment at work though and I now have to travel two days a week. So time to get this thing done just became scarce. [>:]
I really appreciate the advise.

They can mount in the same bolt pattern but the 50 has 10% more HP if you believe the OS propaganda. http://www.osengines.com/engines/osmg0550.html
I'm flying a 50SX and it is very strong. It is a ringed motor also. The 50 also turns 3000 more RPM (MAX). Of course all I can compare it to now is the 46 AX specs. http://www.osengines.com/engines/osmg0547.html They are both good engines, I like both.

Kelowna Fred, also, another thing to take into consideration is that these engines do not like the cold a bit! I honestly wouldnt trust mine below 35 degrees. I also always put a lock washer between the prop nut and washer and ALWAYS have a plastic spinner on while the motor it running to ENSURE that it is not going to come lose.. Isn't it great to here her run?

dont't get too confident in that spinner. One of the first things that happened to me (I was getting ready to fly for maybe the 10th time after solo) was my prop came off. It was a three blade prop that comes on the evolution trainer engine. Anyway, it had a plastic spinner. The whole thing went flying off as my brother carried it out to the runway. Good thing no one was in front of it. I've also seen two (one was mine) spinners literally explode during an engine run-up. These were both on saito 100's, so there's quite a bit more torque there than your trainer's engine, but be aware.
Just want you to still be cautious around those props. Never be in front of one unless it is absolute necessary, and then for only as long as you have to. I do all of my tach'ing from behind the motor. As soon as it's started, I point it away from me. I like my hands just the way they are!
