Well, I went back up today twice. I probably should not have. Had 10 mile cross winds gusting to 20 mph.First time I stuck my landing pretty well! A tad hard but I was happy considering the cross wind.
The second was harder,I had a big gust come up when I was a couple of feet off the deck. Bounced it pretty good. Had no damage though, I got it on the landing gear though.
I decided not to press my luck and wait for a calmer day.
Takeoffs were better, even with the wind. The second flight I went up to about 300 ft. and just did a pattern, felt much more relaxed than the others.
Happy flying!

Your doing awsome. The winds can be bad, but the balooning effect is worse. I hate when your just about to touch down and you get ballooned about 2 feet up. Congrats. How much fuel do you have left and how is the rapture?

The wind died down tonight, I did 4 more flights. mix results on the landings but no damage and all on the wheels. She's a tuff little bird.
I think I should work on some steep approaches on the sim.
Got a half a gallon under my belt so far newb. The weather is suppose to have rain the next couple of days. Maybe I'll get on the Rapture then.
Just have not worked on it since the weather finally got nice.

Yeah, but I have to teach my wife how to use the camera so it may be a bit before I can get some video on line. It's one of those fancy dig cameras with 10 x zoom and she does not have a clue how to take a good picture with it. But of corse I'm not much better, It was like the last major purchase I made before I found out about the cancer. I kind of lost interest in it after I found out. I was just figuring it out too. We have a analog video but I don't have a means to get it on the computer
Forgot to mention that I got up the balls to do a loop

. I was surprised how easy it was.
Don't worry, if it goes to my head it quickly gets pushed out when I land.[

Thats good. Loops are fun. My first day flying with my plane i did 5 back to back. Then again i had the support of a buddy box. When you get a little better, try doing an aileron roll at a good altitude. Trainers are hard to do them with, but if my plane if flying right it will do it.

Stick with it man it's great fun. Just remember when you get to touch and go's, don't do them on the tail end of a tank of fuel.. For some reason they get to be so much fun you forget and at some point (never the right time) you run out of fuel. Now don't misunderstand me , I love dead sticks, but most people dread them. Keep with it and ENJOY !!!

Skynard man.... I've been watching Alpha's fly for awhile ...one thing that I would check is the red stripe (starburst) type thing on the top of the wing...in the last month I've seen the red covering lift on the top side of the leading edge...once it just lifted from the base clean through to the tip of the wing..had to land and rip it off....the other time it lifted only in the middle...causing that wing to stop generating lift ..then into the death spiral...check your alphas..
good luck

Skynyrd Man- Doing good. Important to know when the weather is too bad for your skill set. This will change some with experience. How did you resolve the "GREAT SPINNER DEBATE"?

If you have realflight and want to practice approaches with trees etc, download "Bingo Field" from the realflight download page. That's a fair re-creation of my field. With the hedgerow to the north, and the fence to the south, you will learn the approaches that work. I stand with my back to the one tree and windsock in the middle of the field, and use that as my runway. As you work on it, you can get all but the Sabre to land there. The wind usually comes from the north, or the south, so you get to learn how to make that work for you also. Good luck and keep up the good work.

Skynyrd -- I don't want to burst your bubble -- you are doing wonderfully well -- but you are approaching a dangerous time in your flying. You are starting to relax and your confidence is building -- this is sometimes accompanied by an unjustified loss of caution & a willingness to push the envelope just a wee bit. Treat the activity respect and continue to apply great care.
Good luck.
Good luck.
