Crashem, Money is not an issue, It jsut means i have to save up longer. So i am prepared for extra costs. the color scheme I am doing is pretty much set in stone though.
The fuse will be orange with a blue wing or vice versa and the wing will say Auburn on top and Tigers on bottom, might just do orange top wing and blue lettering and blue bottom and orange lettering for bottom with white fuse

Newb... I hope your being sarcastic about never hearing anything good about the 4*! If not then you haven't read ANYTHING posted on RCU!

Every one seems to really like the 4* So I would go with the 4* 60 Kit. The bigger the plane the more stable it will be, and smoother too. Also you want every one to see your a Tigers fan right?

I think they make/made a 4* 1.20 any one know?

You didn't mention the Tiger.. Something steer you away? It'd be cool to do a Tiger 60 in the Aubrun Tigers trim[>:]

Sorry for the back to back post, but what about the voyager? I will convert it to Tail dragger if i got it, or just leave it as trike, but you can't beat that price. Any opinions?

I would end up haveing everything needde for under 320. Which will take a while, but well worth it.

Newb.. Sorry I don't have AIM.., I have MSN though if you have that too.

The Tower Voyager Is a great flying plane.. I'd recomend it also (can't believe I forgot it![&:])
I yould leave it trike though as it wouldbe hard to do a taildragger conversion on that part. plane

Yup, Sig still makes the 4 Star 1.20... kit form only, no ARF. It's my choice for my second plane, and there's one sitting by my buid table as we speak! Should keep my smilin for a while with a Saito 1.50!! Just gonna take my sweet time building it, though.

I have a 4*60 with enlarged rudder and elevator with a Magnum .91...

I LOVE it!

Very fun... flat spins... hover ( a little, it is still just a bit underpowered for hovering) great fun flyer....and still flies very nicely slowly......

4 * is a great choice. Just take your time and learn to really fly each new plane before attempting the next if you do this after about the third or fourth plane. You will have become skilled enough were you can pick virtually any plane without having to worry that it is too much for you to handle.

You seem to have just started from what I've read here. May I suggest you fly your trainer for this entire season. Then next season do the same with your 4 *. I'd be willing to bet that just doing this would increase your skills beyond belief.

just to throw in my .02 here... the World Models T-34 is a super sweet plane... stand-off scale at best but flies like a dream. I can hover it (for a few seconds) snaps like crazy and lands as slow as my avistar did. Going from your current plane to this one should be no problem. It wont do super 3-d manuevers unless I enlarge control surfaces but it's the perfect eveyday flyer... can't go wrong. plus it's an ARF for 110 bucks or so... goes together easy and flies like a champ with just about any engine you want to put on it...

oops sorry.. didn't realize you wanted to build.. goon on ya' for sure. I'd go with the 4* line myself then if I were you. I've never had or flown one but with all the great reviews you can't go wrong. Plus.. if you stick with it and build straight and true and to the instructions building a kit such as those dosen't really take tons of time anyway. It's actually quite enjoyable... that is until you try and shape the stupid spitfire wing fillets LOL....

Wait till you build an Ultra Sport 60. Glue on the balsa blocks, start sanding away anything that doesn't look like an airplane, and when you're ankle deep in balsa dust you can stop sanding!!!

Newb,
Take a small piece of advice and spend the extra money and get Monokote, please don't buy the towerkote. You'll be kicking yourself for years if ya do. I tried it once to save a few bucks and wound up tearing off and redoing the coveing in Monokote.

That's not to say that Towerkote isn't good for anything at all. The tubes that the covering is rolled around are great for storing dowel rods in!!

Honestly though, it'll be worth it for you to spend the extra few dollars on the Monokote. I understand about being on a budget, and I applaud you for saving your money to get what you want. Here are a few tips that might save another buck or two. Check locally for your CA and Epoxy. We have a Hobby Lobby here in town (not Hobby Lobby that sells RC stuff, but Hobby Lobby that sells craft items), and I can buy Epoxy for $3 less than at Tower, and I can buy 6 oz CA for the same price of a 2 oz bottle at Tower (although I switched to Elmer's Carpenter's glue now and 2 oz of CA will last me a year).

Looking over your list don't forget to get wheels, spinner, and props. If you already have them at home great, just trying to help.

Newb,
didn't see you last question until after I already posted. If you can afford it, get both. They both have great uses when covering. Ask your instructor, or other flyers, and see if you can get a used iron or heat gun from them. great way to save money. Heck, the first plane that I covered I used a small travel (clothes) iron to cover it with, and my trainer still has the same covering on it too!
