Hi. My name is zach, and i am a happy owner of the aerobird challenger. I am ready to move on, and this is what i think that i am going to get.

Now, i need to dicide if i am going to put in a brushed or brushless moter. I don't have unlimited money, but i CAN afford a speed controler/engine, if i have to. i am 13. Please tell me advantages/disadvatages, and feel free to state your opinion.

Also, do you recomend a different cessna than the wattage?

You probably want to go over to the electric/parkflyer forums with this but I would go with GWS and I have had both them and Wattage planes,,dont worry about brushless motors at this point,,wait until you are a better flyer and want something more aerobatic, its too expensive for a trainer foamy plane...Rog

Brushless ROCKS.....but I may have to agree....

it really isn't needed for a Cessna (and it ain't cheap!!)
I think the Cessna would fly just fine with a brushed setup.....

now if you think of going for some sort of 3D setup down the road... brushless is the only choice.....IMHO

first, people keep saying that this plane is foam, but it is not. it is all balsa. If i can get a 400 brushless/speedcontroller for 40 buks, them what do u think?

how much the plane weighes is in consideration on the size 300 or 400 sounds like a good size...

if you concerned about prices so much stay with a brushless motor for half the price...

mabe u guys are looking at the wrong plane. wattage sells two modern cessnas. A trainer/fomie, and this. http://www.globalhobby.com/public/wa...ery/128393.asp this is the one i am looking at. all balsa!

If you can get a 400 class brushelss and speed control that are appropraite for this plane, get it. Brushless will be more efficent and typically run longer on the same battery. Can also be more powerful for the same current draw.

Where did you see a combo for $40?

If you have a brushless motor, Buy it. If it is the motor and ESC, try not to break your arm getting your wallet out.

Also let me know where they are for this price as I would like to get a couple for myself.

sorry guys! but the400 with speedcontroller is not on the market. a flying friend is offering it to me, to help me start out.

Maybe I'm going blind but I couldn't see where it said ( wood) anywhere on that website. Says fuse is moulded. Usually that means foam. If your learning to fly your better off with foam anyway. A bit of 5 min epoxy and your back in the air. Not so with balsa.

i see your reasoning, but my flying friend has 2 of them, and i have held them, and watched him work on them, and they are balsa! these words came from his mouth about 4 thursdays ago "this plane is made from balsa, wich is more durable thatn u would think" i will check again today, becasue i am going to his house to convert the white pos clips, to dean plugs.

Grab the brushless too. You wont be sorry. Later on you may want to go Lipo batts and they are much more compatible than brush type motors.

Your friend may THINK it's balsa, but either it's not, or that link isn't the same plane your friend is flying... Flypaper is right about the "molded" fuselage.... That's what "molded" means... molded from plastic or foam... Also, note the control surfaces are corrugated? Corrugated Balsa trees are EXTREMELY rare and very hard to find... [sm=bananahead.gif]

Edit: Ahhh, did more research... The WING is built up from balsa... Not the rest of the plane...

yah. the fuse is plastic, and the tail, wing, is balso. You seem to have a pretty grim look at this plane, so is there another cessna that u recomend?
