Mike, yet another nugget of wisdom from you
. The guys are right, a warbird is going to require alot more finesse than a sport plane to fly around. They are extremely non-forgiving. The best way to learn how to fly one is to take a brick, or half a brick, cram it in the fuse of your trainer, cut the rates down on your surfaces, overprop it, and fly it. If you can keep it from stalling throughout an entire flight, and successfully do touch n gos, and the manditory high speed pass with victory roll, then build a warbird.
Seriously, wait until you have a few planes under your belt before you get something youre going to be really attached to. It's easier to mourn the loss of a $99.00 arf than a $250.00 warbird that youve poured your heart and soul into.
What do ya supposed the percentage of corsair builders build the wing upside down????
Good Luck, and if you do it, Post pics and video.

Unless your warbird has to have real close scale looks to it, you can get a sport scale model that is fairly easy to fly and land. Great Planes makes a sport Mustang kit that is often used for a second plane and their are some great flying Mustang ARFs out there. For other sport warbirds, Midwest makes a ME109 that is easy to fly. Direct Connection makes a 60 size Hawker Sea Fury that takes off by itself, is very easy to fly and lands lands almost as easy as the takeoff. Just letting you know that you have some options.

From: Jewett, NY,
So your kind of saying a Sea Fury is a good 2nd plane??
You goto to remember that there is a big difference between a true scale warbird and a sport or sorta scale warbird that these guys are talking about!!!!
Sport Scale planes look like the plane but have been designed to be easier to fly i.e. airfoils modified, washout added control surfaces modified all of this is done in an attempt to provide a hybrid plane one that looks close to the original but fly more like the sport planes most modelers are familiar with. True scale planes are "exact" duplicates of the original in miniature.
