hi every 1,
i was puting bolts through my landing gear yesterday and i came across a split at the bottom of the plante and half of it was wet with petrol and hal wasent, anyway half of the plane bottom has cracked so im replacing it with strong ply aand using 15min epoxy
why is the trainer made so crappy and weak?

Trainers are made weak because they (like all aircraft) have to be made light. Most have "crumple zones" that are designed to fail in the stress points so you don't destroy the expensive components (radio, engine, servos). Trainers take a lot of punishment, and if the landing gear was rigid you'd rip it off the plane frequently. Even when this happens it's usually an overnight fix with white glue. Better to tear off the floor than snap the whole fuselage in two.
First order of business should be to find out where the fuel is coming from. There shouldn't be any in the plane (except in the tank), and the outside should be coated to prevent intrusion (covering, dope, paint, etc.) from the exhaust or spills. A cracked tank or hole in a fuel line will make the engine run poorly or cut-out, not to mention the mess. Soaking up fuel also adds even more weight to an airframe.
