I've taught several students that had the Nexstar. I think it flies much better without the flaps. You can leave the wing droops on if you want, but I would say take them off. I also recommend to disconnect the AFS.

Hope this helps

I have also flown several Nexstars. I usually have the student take the flaps off even before the first flight. It's never been a problem. And I have flown a couple without the wing droops on and I really didn't notice much difference in the way it flies. But it may be that I was adjusting to different flying without being aware of it.

Either way, it's a good flying plane.

I flew my NexStar with the flaps on for a few flights, until I got use to landing her. As you know she glides in very slow - nice for practicing the landings. Just remember that when you take them off you will have to land faster to prevent a stall. I took the tip pieces off before that too and did not notice any difference in handing.

Good luck!
