dbow et al.,
I just brought home my 4*60 kit yesterday. Its going to take me a few days to get my shop reorganized before I dare to get into the box.
A couple of questions:
1) Glue - I don't like CA cause I always glue my fingers together. When would you HAVE to use CA and not use wood glue? Also, can you substitute woodglue for epoxy?
2) What's a "turtledeck"? I see repeated references to the turtledeck being too weak.
Thanks,
GB

I'm almost finished with the wings, have a few things left to do and some final sanding of the wings.
I'm trying to figure out how to get the rounded edge on the ailerons and also how to cut the 30 degree angle.
I live in an apartment and don't have the usual shop tools and such.
Suggestions?
I also need to go ahead and grab an engine, I want to overpower this plane and was looking at the Magnum XLS91A 2 stroke. Its specifications show a lot more horsepower than the .91 fourstrokes.
Suggestions on engines?
My budget is up a bit now so I have a lot more options at this point.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Everyone I have talked to recommends the Saito .91 four stroke, second seems to be the OS 91.
Let me know what you get and if you fly it. I have a Saito .91 on my Christmas list.

looks real good , as far as gluing with wood glue after you've CA'd in place. Note: The ca will wick into surrounding wood and seal it as I'm sure you can see. That will eliminate the use of wood glue in those area's as it will not wick into the wood and will dry on the surface. I use a drop of med ca in these ares's PS. I just finished my 4* 60 last week, here's a pic

What about the rounded parts on the ailerons and the tail.
Tower has a sanding block that has rounded shapes in it, but I dont think thats for the ailerons, more like the size of the leading edge.
I will check with the hobby shop and see if they have anything that will do this.
Thanks

dbow, it's really easy to do. Just set the surface on the edge of your table, and hold your sanding block at a 45* angle. Then sand a 45 on top and bottom only about 1/4 - 1/3 the way down. Now, instead of having 2 corners, you have 4. Smooth the 4 corners, and you've got a rounded edge!
