Now as far as a second plane I would say it looks pretty docile, BUT that all depends on your skill level. So we need a little more info on what your skill level is

Ringed engines require a lot more break-in time & care -- but they are much cheaper to re-build when they wear out -- potentially very long lifetimes.
ABC types usually are quick to break in & usually (but not always) produce a bit more power than similarly sized ringed engines. They also usually have shorter lives & are not usually worth re-building when the piston & sleeve wear out.

The "Carosel " is an all ABS plastic plane and in the States it is sold by Falcon Trading ( www. falcon-trading.com ) It's a very good flying plane and the 78 would be more then enough power. For a second plane I would say it could be a hand full if you don't have good flight skills. It is a blast to fly, but it's a lot of plane for a new pilot. As far as the 78 fitting the mount I can't say for sure, they are special mounts and I'm not sure of the size. Also the engine mounts INVERTED on that plane and it would take an experienced builder to modify it. I hope this doesn't discourage you toward this plane but LUKE it's a lot of machine. Take a look at it's little brother the JUPITER, it's a 40 size and you can fly the living crap out of it, especially with a good 46.
You just like the decals on the Carosel !!!! By the way in the States it sells for about $100. one heck of a deal for an experienced pilot.
ENJOY !!! RED

Hi!
Please!! Forget any of the big .60 engines ...or .78 engines they are simply to heavy and powerful for the airplane .
Stick with a .40 -.46 twostroke and it will be just fine.
Honest... for a second airplane I would choose something else ...a low wing wooden sport airplane is much better (with a span of around 130cm and weight about 2kg). Like the Calmato sport from Kyosho.

Sorry guys but a 40 or 46 will not do much with the Carosel, IT IS a 60 size plane and weighs about 8 1/2 lbs complete. Now the Jupiter flies great with a 46 and so so with a 40. I don't know where you came up with a 40 on the Carosel but that was bad advice !!!!
Go back and read my post # 12. Enjoy !!! RED

Hi Luke,
What are you flying at the moment???
I know of the Carosel it's made by ARC in Italy I believe,
A freind of mine has a Ready 2 which is also made by ARC which I would HIGHLY recommend for a second plane.....it is a trainer but it's solid and flys well to the point where you could take your B cert on it
.
I've flown his loads of times I've even mid-aired it
(wasn't my fault some idiot chasing me round the sky
), They went into one another head on.........the Ready had half the wing chopped off and that was about it really the other guys plane consisted of confetti and an Irvine in a foot deep hole
!
A Ready 2 with an Irvine 46. would make a good second plane,
It's not the most attractive plane and it's kinda' like a big Airfix kit but it's VERY VERY robust and flys well
.
You can see it here on the Ripmax website: [link=http://ripmax.com/ProductFrames/A-ARC1002.html]http://ripmax.com/ProductFrames/A-ARC1002.html[/link]
I mean just the other day I brought it down with the right wing coming out of the joiner and no right aileron[X(]!

Not a bad looking plane at all.
BTW Greg.B , since I know nothing about the licensing on your side of the pond (as they say), what is involved in the B cert testing? Is there a site to look up the info?

Hi!
Sorry!
Thought it was the mid wing trainer that showed up as the first picture.
As for the Italian made plastic aeroplanes, I have seen some of these (Highwinged )and they do look rather nice allthough a little on the heavy side...and nearly imposible to repair.
So I would definitely go with a wooden ARF airplane like the one I suggested before...the low winged Kyosho Calmato Sport....or any other .40 size low winged airplane ...except the semi scale .40 size CAP ,or YAK clones...you name it...semi scale aerobatic aeroplane. Because they don't fly as well as non scale airplanes!
Regards!
