Default Reciever won't work

Hi, I have a question regarding a GWS Reciever

I have a futaba 4 channel Radio. I have one plane with a 4 channel reciever and work fine. I just bought a GWS 6 channel Naro Reciever. Model R-6NII/H. I put in a christal for the channel as the TX. However, it does not seem to work. I just wanted to find out, does it matter if I am using a 6 channel reveiver with a4 channel radio. Basically I was thinking if I use the first 4 channels with the reciever, it would not matter and work with the TX. If anyone, know can you let me know.

THanks All,
QWazzy

you can use a 6 ch rx with a 4 ch tx.when you purchased the rx did you get one that is compatible with futaba?jr and airtronics use a different shift than hitec and futaba tx and they will not work.some rx a shift selectable with a jumper wire.usuall channels 1-4 are the primary flight channels controlled by the sticks.check by moving servo connecters to different locations incase this is different.try plugging a fully charged battery directly into the rx bypassing the swith in case it is bad.good luck

Thanks. I am using an ESC with my Rx. So I plug that into Channel 3 and plug the battery into the ESC. I plug the other servos into channel 1,2 and 4. When I move the Tx sticks the servo's don't react. I know the ESC is good. However, I don;t have a mottor pluged into the ESC. Does this matter. Do I need to have the mottor plugged in to complete a circuit or something.

No, you don't need to plug in a motor. It should work without it.

You do have the battery connected to the ESC?

Is the Rx Futaba compatible, as sdb-5 suggests?

you do have to have a motor wired in as the esc cannot arm itself without it,non-armed esc=no working servos.

Bigchap, not always true, depends on ESC. I frequently test new installations without the motor hooked up and all works fine. You need to check on what proceedure is required to arm your ESC and check to make sure the throttle is not reversed on your installation.

Could have the wrong crystal. Single conv. and dual conv. take different crystals.

Quazzy

Check the model # of your Gws Rx. As some above have indicated You need to confirm that your Rx is a negative shift version. GWS and other manufacturers provide Rx's in both positive or negative shift to match the buyers Tx shift, both must be of the same shift or either the Tx or Rx must be selectable for both shifts. GWS sells positive or negative versions of their Rx's. In North America all Futaba Tx's are negative shift only.

This mistake of getting the wrong Rx's for their TX's is a common mistake.

Qwazzy, I have to ask, is your Futaba radio AM or FM? Some old Futaba 4 channel radios (like the Conquest) were AM radios. An FM receiver will not pick up the AM signal.

Just wondering.
